Wrangler unlimited sport base: Need pricing advise!

Hello all!

Yesterday I was dead set on ordering a Wyllis, but today I am pondering a base sport sitting at a local dealer:

This is what I have:
Wrangler unlimited sport base (no power locks/doors) : $26,195.00
Max tow package (3.73 gearing): $745.00
Automatic: $1,295.00
Trac-lok diff rear axle: $295.00
Hard top: $995.00
-----------------------
MRSP: $30,520.00
Invoice: $29,454.00

The dealership quoted:
Supplier pricing: $29,234.00
minus private cash -$750.00
---------------------------------
Total before taxes/title/reg: $28,484.00

Quoted Sale price is 6.67% below sticker & 3.3% below invoice

Would this be a good price?

Thanks!

Sounds like a good price to me. You are about $1000 below invoice.

3.3% below invoice is a nice deal

Agree but there is still room. especially if you are ordering from the factory. In this scenario the dealer has less cost than when he specs a car onto his lot because factory direct pre-sold means there is no finance charges to him, no insurance, no car washes etc. The more a car sits on the lot the more it cost them. With factory orders it is easy risk-free money so don't be shy asking for a little more help or calling 3 dealers and letting them duke it out. Good luck.

The vehicle is actually sitting in the lot, I'm not sure how much more can I squeeze out of them. All the dealers in my area are saying the Jeep Wranglers are flying off the lot!

I did the truecar estimate for my region and it quoted $28,687 from three local dealerships, so I assume I am looking at a good deal?

IMO- I would NOT purchase a 4 door without power. I bought my JK without power knowing I could add power windows later (Electric Life) and I am good- but would not do the same for a JKU. Trying to lock all 4 doors plus the tailgate...a pain. You can't roll up or roll down the rear windows without stopping Etc. There is a reason they're willing to deal- no one else wants it. You'll pay for the deal later when you try to sell it. There was a recent "what did you pay for your JKU thread"- I read it in brief but it doesn't sound like you're getting enough off for the power deduct.
Of course I am sure there are JKU owners without power who are good- just my opinion.

Sounds pretty good but depends on what you have planned for it. The 3.73's will be fine if you're not planning on going over a 33" tire. You'll probably be looking to regear whether you get 3.73 or 3.21 if you plan on 35"+. The lack of power options in my '10 unlimited got old quick. Since I wanted 35's I knew a regear was in my future when I bought my '12 unlimited so I put finding power options higher on my priority list than finding one with 3.73.

Same setup i have identically. i have no problems at all with having no power options. i do however wish i did have the power locks.

anyways price sounds pretty good. they didn't give you an OTD price?

I got mine for $31K OTD. by far the cheapest i could have gotten it in the state of florida.

I completely disagree. My brother has p/w in his and would trade me any day of the week. I love not having to deal with power window motors, removing the doors is super easy, no worry about water getting in anywhere, I never have anyone in the back seat so its always locked anyways. I say go for it, its a jeep not a cadillac!

I personally don't miss power windows at all..... i have had no need for them what so ever.

Prices are so different around the US, Just seems so crazy.
I think that price is pretty high for pretty stripped JKU..
I got my Sahara for less, but that don't do you any good being there..
As mentioned above, there's still room for dealing..
Take your time, and good luck..

3.3% under invoice is a good deal, no matter if it's a base Sport or a Rubicon X.

Thanks for all the replies, you guys are great!
Yeah. I'm not too concerned for having manual roll up windows, actually my kids would get a kick of them since I don't think they have ever been a vehicle that had them.
I am somewhat concerned with the lack of central door locking and alarm, slightly concerned with the lack of tinted windows.
The one thing I absolutely hate from the base model are the 16" steel wheels, I would upgrade them to sport s 17" alloy take offs, which can be bought on Craigslist, but that is about ~$600 that could be applied for the "power convenience package" which includes all these amenities:

Auto Dimming Mirror with Reading Lamp
17-Inch x 7.5-Inch Aluminum Wheels
P255/75R17 OWL On/Off Road Tires
Power Convenience Group
Power Heated Mirrors
Power Windows with Front One-Touch-
Down Feature
Power Door Locks
Remote Keyless Entry
Security Alarm
Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
Deep Tint Sunscreen Windows

Which brings me to my next question:
According to the build & price function at jeep.com, the price difference between the wrangler unlimited sport and the sport "s" is $2,500.00, which shows exactly in that amount as a "power convenience package" on many MRSP stickers that I have viewed online. However, other stickers are showing that exact same package at $2,600.00 and even $2,800.00! I know they do the mid year price hike, but wouldn't thy update the build and price website? I think it's concerning you build and price with one option only to figure out it's $300.00 more when you go to place an order...
Back to the sport base in question, I will offer the dealership $27.5K and take it from there...maybe settle at $28K if that's the vehicle I actually end up wanting to buy...

Another question:
Regarding rear ratios... I really don't plan to go any larger than a stock 17" from the sport "S". I live in south east Michigan (metro Detroit) which is relatively flat and no rock crawling opportunities. This vehicle would be my daily driver with weekend drives on dirt back roads, so 90% of surface roads and about 50% will be on I-75 highway. Considering this, would I actually be hurting myself by going 3.73 that is included in the max tow package? Should I just stick to 3.21? Or is 3.73 considered a must? As you can see I am clearly a newbie to the jeep world!
Thanks for all your help!

I always say "don't fear the gear." I see the 3.73's actually making for a much better drive.

3.73s all day long. Many people regret 3.21s (larger tires; ME!); have as of yet to see anyone regret 3.73s. Not saying 3.21s won't be fine for your 17s- but your Jeep already has the upgrade.
Look the around dealers again...the Jeeps sitting are likely 3.21s and no power.

That is an average price around here. You should be able to get it down another $2000.

Just bought a JKU base. Nothing on it. 4.21's, 16" wheels, hard top, roll down windows, manual locks, Radio with UConnect. Auto tranny.

Negotiated $28,933 including the "delivery charge"

Update:

I ended up going a different vehicle:
JKU sport Willys wheeler 24k package, auto, dual top. Ordered for 7.24% below invoice, plus taxe, title, registration.
I had orgininally negotiated on my own employee pricing (without being one), but later got a better deal, so I'm happy!
