Sounds like a hair salon treatment to me. Sorry, couldn't resist.

do a search, more common than it should be. Most agree that a transmission cooler is needed.

First thing in the morning, go to that dealer and get your Jeep. Take it to a real Chrysler service center and never go back there again.

I actually had the same problem while wheelin'. Turn out that the bra on the front of my jk was restricting the airflow. I took it off and things returned to normal. Also, I think there was a recent recall that involved reseting the threshold temperature.

Your JK, evidentally has already had the (J30) Automatic transmission Fluid Temp Recall installed--

This Dealer that you've gone to, must be a combo dealer--Like Dag says, go to a REAL Chrysler dealer, they know what the ECM alarm "FLASHING" means and will correct/repair it, although you may have trouble with any warranty coverage

Good luck

The Hot Oil warning light comes on for one reason only. Your transmission oil"fluid" over heated. This can cause your transmission to over heat and fail. The common cause of this is when the transmission is under stress when driving in soft sand, off road or towing a trailer. The cheapest and easiest why to protect your transmission and to prevent this from happening is to install a transmission aux cooler. They cost about $50.00 and mount on your radiator. If you install the cooler online as seen in attached photos it will take about 90 min and won't void your warranty. The coiler I used is by B&N and I purchased it from summit racing online.

Your dealer should be replacing your transmission while it's still under warranty and installing a cooler at that time.

The dealer will not install a cooler for you unless you purchased your vehicle with a tow package.

This is a good question but you realize that this thread is from October 2010. B&N is a good trans. cooler.

The recall is for those Jeeps that don't have the warning light that tells you your oil (transmission) fluid is hot. Their solution is to install the warning light. When driving slow (no air flow) and heavy on the throttle (washboards, etc.) drop your jeep into 1st or 2nd gear. That will help the problem.
