Exclamation Wrecked/Repaired Jeep Advise

So I finally bought 2013 wrangler unlimited sport. I had it for maybe 3 months before someone pulled out in front of me and I hit her going 55. Her insurance so far has paid 14k to fix it, including a new cross member and frame pull. Ive already brought it back 5 times to fix problems. Going back in tomorrow to have the passenger door adjusted since its way out of wack and leaking. I planned on keeping this jeep forever and making it my own. Is it worth keeping at this point? It seems good as new except for this door problem. Im getting the diminished value from the insurance once repairs are done. Should I take that and trade in the jeep for a new one and start over? or suck it up and keep it? Just worried about putting money into this baby only to have major problems down the road and be stuck with it

I think if I were in your shoes, I would start over.

I agree I would have pushed for a total. That being said the technology today a good shop can get it back to almost perfect. The best you can really do is keep taking it back and if you get any push back from the shop file a complaint with your insurance company.

But I don't know the laws everywhere but I know in Alabama you can have repairs and collect for loss of value. Depending on the damage to the frame the value is greatly reduced as much as 65% depending on your state laws and other stuff. But don't do the old trade it in and not tell them about damage, because if they resale it and then the damage is found you buy the Jeep back regardless if you want it or not.

Guess the only real concern would be is what are the specs. when it is on an alignment rack. And depending on what part of the country you are in (winter road conditions) when the frame work was done what did they do to prevent the frame from rust damage in repaired areas. If they welded in a new cross-member and spray painted it that will rust over in no time.

Edit:
Just for though you might run it to the dealer tell them you want to look at trading it in it was wrecked and the frame was damaged and repaired how much of a loss in value are you looking at. Get something on paper and present it to your insurance company because now you can not trade it in next year/month (if you so chose to) with out a massive loss. Not tiring to say go after anyone for money, just saying they should be responsible you should not be at a loss in your investment. If that makes scene.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah my plan was to take it in and get a trade in value for a diminished value claim. I'm just trying to not get royaly screwed over. Which is what it feels like. I've been dealing with State Farm it's been pretty awful

Well I have been in two accidents in the past year luckily the armor on my JK did great. The other vehicles however did not fair to well but they were both at fault. Good luck with your claim hope things work out for every one involved.

I would do everything I could to bail on the Jeep. That is just me though. Body work is one thing. Mechanical and frame stuff I would draw the line.

That said-some companies go by percentage of vehicle value whether they will total, and I suspect on a 2013 your damage so far isn't there yet for them to automatically total it. I had an 07 Mustang and was rear-ended in late 2010. Nearly $9-10K in repair - I actually wanted them to total it and was shocked that they didn't. But in the end, it was all body panels, paint, lights etc and nothing frame/mechanical (unless you count a new muffler and muffler brackets as mechanical lol).

On the other hand, my Dodge Caliber that had less than 2K on the odometer was totalled not over body damage (the body took the impact fairly well all things considered) but over frame damage - I was rear-ended at a dead stop by an ARMORED TRUCK at about 45mph. The frame was beyond saving.

Yeah, well... if they don't give you what you need to make this whole hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit. Didn't you say your back has been aching? Pain running down your leg? Arm feels a little numb? Neck spasms?

Any of these symptoms can appear months later after an accident.

It appears State Farm has a lot of unfinished business to tend to...

Check out collision claims.com; that's who I'm using when my jeep gets out of the shop.

Ha yeah well I actually did get hurt. I had to get a lawyer to help me with the medical side since I've had to go to physical therapy. Hopefully there won't be a huge fight over the diminished claim. I've heard horror stories
