It says it'll work with the newer steel bumper that looks similar to the aluminum bumper. I don't think the newer accessories work with the older bumpers without modification.

In this pic it looks like it is mounted on a XHD steel bumper and not the All Terrain or Aluminum one.
If that stinger fits the steel XHD bumper why wont the stinger from the steel bumper fit on the All Terrian or Aluminum one?

Here is my steel XHD with the bigger stinger...

I'm just going by what I've read. When the aluminum bumper first came out. Rugged Ridge said explicitly that the options for the original steel bumper would not work with the aluminum bumper.

It is the steel one. I got it because its cheaper. It still does not seem to heavy though

after putting the ends on last, I started to think it'd be easier with the ends on first.

I tried that a couple of times. Hard a really hard time reading one of the bolts with the bolts in for the end cap. In the end, I just said "eff it" and left the end caps off

I have this bumper. I like it. Getting a Winch for it when I get home from deployment. Synthetic rope to help with the weight savings. The End caps were a pain to install, but not too crazy if you have a ratchet wrench. Im going to have to remove the pumper to install the winch of course. Also the kit includes a relocation bracket for the vacuum pump.

Any issues with the vacuum pump. I have heard conflicting information on whether or not you need to relocate the pump, and grind down the bracket in order for the bumper to fix. I have a 2013, and ready to pull the trigger. Can get the entire set up for 865 on amazon, free shipping, and a 50 buck mail in rebate. So 815 ain't bad. Looks great on your jeep. Thanks

If you use the winch plate, you have to deal with the vacuum pump and mount. If you just run the bumper, then you can leave it alone.

Cool.

I'd suggest bolting on the end caps and the hoop before mounting the bumper.

I'd say that the second from the left bracket is the easiest to bolt up. So I did that one first loosely and then just shoved the remaining bolts through the 6 holes as placeholders.

Then I tightened up that first one up so the bumper didn't move and was able to get the last three easily.

Took less than 10 minutes to mount the bumper and bolt the 4 brackets by myself. It's so insanely light that it feels like it weights less that 5 pounds.
Good luck.

I just installed the aluminum XHD bumper on my 2014 JKUR. I think it looks great, but man it really was a pain in the a$$ to install. I painted the inside grill and the D-Rings with copper paint.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a skid plate that is compatible with this bumper? I like the looks of the Barricade J100163, but not sure that it fits the 2014 JKU(?)

I had it priced out on Amazon for under a grand but that was getting the pieces from different suppliers. I paid over $1000 because I did not order it online. I went to local dealer suffering from I have to have it now syndrome. I live in PA so I would have had to pay sales tax from Quadratec. I actually called them and asked if they could discount it at all to cover the sales tax. They said no so I told them I would take my business to a local store. The difference at that point was minor so I'd rather give my money to a local store. Having said all that. The price for any of these bumper is ridiculous. It is however in line with most bumper prices. All these bumpers are very simple parts. So the 1000 + price tag seems a bit extreme to me. I showed my new bumper to a buddy of mine who isn't into Jeeps and couldn't believe how much I paid for it. He thought it looked really cool but thought I was crazy for paying over a grand for it. He might be right.

As far a the stinger option there is none. I would look into Poison Spyder. They make a really nice bumper but like I posted previously, you really need to run a winch on those bumper. They stick out so far the gap on top looks funny if you don't run a winch.
I installed an aluminum diamond plate blank off on our poison spyder front bumper. You would be surprised how handy that wide surface is for a mini work bench and place to kneel on while working under the hood.

Does the bumper come with the D rings or is that a separate purchase?
