XM install in a 2011 JKU with sirius and nav?

ok here's the deal: my wife got the 4 dr COD Black Ops Jeep the friday after thanksgiving. it came with the mygig rhb headunit with all the bells and whistles. i have had XM for @5 years and my wife prefers the programming on XM over sirius(kinda funny because it's one company now). i know some of you will recommend that i call sirius and order the best of XM but i've already tried that and they said it cannot be done until the free year's subscription is over(even sillier because i'm willing to pay for the programming).

i have an XMD1000, cables, and a magnetic micro antenna sitting around collecting dust and i'd like to install it but i have no clue what else i need to integrate it with the headunit. do any of you guys on these forums have any suggestions?

in my lexus that came with sirius i got a vais sl2xmt and it works beautifully but unfortunately they do not make anything for jeeps. i have emailed axxess to see what they suggest but i have yet to hear from them.

hopefully you guys can steer me in the right direction.

I actually had to call Sirius several times before I got someone who was helpful at all.

I ended up canceling my free year completely, paying up for a new year, then I was able to add the best of XM. Opie and Anthony at last.

I figure I will call up again after a month or so and complain to get credit for my lost free year. They have a stupid system and pretty poorly trained people on the phones!

Best of luck with Sirius. I've had nothing but headaches every time I call them. They will probably spin you around a bunch of times but eventually you can get what you want if you fight them and stay persistent with what you want.

And I have the same story about Bank of America, AT&T Wireless, TiVo, Comecast ... the list goes on and on. Sirius doesn't have any market cornered on poor customer service!

Be persistent as someone else said, take excellent notes on when you call and what was talked about - it seems like a hassle but at some point you will get someone knowledgeable and/or empowered and if you have good notes, they will see the history and help you out.

I believe xm and sirius merged together. They are one company now.

One company has no bearing on it.

Different programming, different receivers, different satellites ... If you've got a Sirius receiver and want XM content you are somewhat SOL.

How long has it been since they were talking to congress promising ala carte options for customers?? I don't like either company now that they continue to screw their customers.

I agree that their receivers, at this time are not compatable, but the two companies are one. Decisions are made by one, siriusXM This is a good link that explains it in detail... Sirius XM Radio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I also agree that this company is a total rip off

really!?!?!?!?!?! no kidding?!?!?!?

see my original post! sheesh!!!

i know it's one company now but my wife prefers some stuff that is only on the XM side and is partially available with the best of XM package.

i actually got through to someone at sirius today and after me explaining what the problem was the dude finally "got it" and said he'd cancel the freebie sub and set up the paid sub for the jeep with the best of XM and nav. my wife just called me and told me that the "best of XM" channels are still not working. i guess i'll resend an activation signal when she gets home later.

i had to do this cancel your free subscription, and then put in place the package you want. like you said you'll have to pay for it but they cant amend or alter the free package. its a PITA but it'll get your missus the stations she wants.

Funny, just had the same experience. Called Sirius, said I want the best of XM added and they can cancel my free year and I'll pay, no worries. They put me on hold, while on hold the radio updates and bam I have best of XM. They take me off of hold and they say it can't be done. I then tell her that they just did... I get put back on hold and then it gets taken off...

She comes back on the line and says it will be done in the next 24 hours...

So we'll see what happens; but I can almost count on them not getting it done. They are all idiots there.

that is too f'n much!!!! funny stuff!!! they really are morons there. sad part is my buddy's wife works for sirius. i have always wanted to ask him to ask his wife why it's damn near impossible to get a straight answer from the fools they have manning the phones but i figured it's best not to bother.

The only customer service people at SiriusXM that seem to be empowered to get something done are the folks that handle cancellation. Once you get to them they seem to be able to do things that the regular reps cannot.

please tell me you're kidding!!!

i would hop on the horn and after going through their awful automated speech recognition BS and speaking to an actual human i would piss and moan and complain like you wouldn't believe. that's ponderous!!!! f'n ponderous! seiously, i'd call and complain. it took me 2 tries to get it done.....there's no way it can be that difficult to do.

another thing. did you try logging onto the sirius website and clicking on "my account" then clicking on "resend activation signal". you have to have the radio on and tuned to channel 184 for this to work. try that before you call and yell at them.
