If I built something like that for the sub I probably wouldn't be able to get my wife out of the seat!

yes...the heated seats are simply a pad that is on the top of the seat cushion. has nothing added under the seat itself

I ordered one yesterday as well. Looks really nice.

After reading the various threads about mysterious leaks, I'd rather keep my recently installed amp high and dry!

How hard was it to remove the seat from underneath? (since it doesn't look like to removed the big bolts.

Not so great if you actually use your jeep for off roading and do any sort of water crossings :/

Then what's that metal plate looking thing on the pics? I thought it was hitting my amp at first.

the metal plate in the first post is an aluminum rack that the op purchased to mount his amp to. it is not normally there. there IS however the regular seat bracket that i believe this rack sits on.

Actually there is no bracket that exists on the seat frame that the bracket fits on. The aluminium bracket mounts to existing holes on the seat frame rails. I have had mine installed under both passenger and driver side seats for about 1.5 years now with no issues (rain or shit yes with doors off almost all summer last year). I just feel better when I have the doors off and am parked somewhere that I cannot really see the bracket from the side view. Granted mine are powder-coated flat black.

My driver-side seat had that same bracket, and no heated seats here.
It just holds some wiring connection (probably for the seatbelt sensor). I removed it to install the Tuffy Concealed Carry drawer. Now that wire just lays in the floor underneath.

you can remove that bracket the power harness is attached to in your pics with 2 T-30 torx bolts - and then just zip tie the wires up under the seat elsewhere. That's what I had to do to fit my lockbox under my drivers seat.

This is true and it will not matter if you have side airbags or heated seats. And the bracket will not mess with seat functionality.
