As much as I hate to admit it, the stock spare tire carrier on my JK wasn't up to the task of adequately supporting my 35" tire and wheel. So, today I broke down and bought this:

Smittybilt Part 2843 - Pivot Heavy-Duty Oversize Tire Carrier-WS1

It's installed and very quality, and now I'm done worrying about it.

I ran on the highway for a couple months okay stock, but as soon as I really started wheeling hard at Walker it started to fail. I like this new mount because it's strong as hell, doesn't require opening a swing mounted tire carrier as well as opening the tailgate, and didn't require a big, expensive rear bumper and swing mount combo.
