00 wrangler sport 4x4 question

ive gotta 00wrangler sport and had a question about the four wheel drive system. now i checked on the jeep webpage and it sounds like my jeep has the Command trac four wheel drive system. on the website it says that this system makes all four wheels spin at the same speed, but does this mean it has lockers on it? i always thought that four wheel drive was only one rear wheel and one front wheel unless you had lockers on it? im i miss understanding this? this is my first car with four wheel drive and my first jeep. any help would be great.

No its does not have lockers.... all four will spin until looses traction and then puts the traction to one of the other wheels that has traction or in contact.

Welcome to the forum.

No it does not have lockers on it unless someone put them in aftermarket.

You may or may not have a LSD in the rear end. (factory limited slip)

But you are right in how you are thinking in your head on how the axles spin.

So what is the limited slip, I mean what does that do. And how do I tell if my jeep has one?

If your jeep is all stock just go to the dealership parts counter and ask them to print off a build sheet for your VIN #. Or go to jeep. com and email them for a copy of the build sheet for you VIN #.

In an stock TJ in 4wd hi or low range the power will go to the wheel with the least traction. Thus one tire is not moving and the other is just spinning but the jeep is not moving.

With lockers the axle shafts are "locked together" so both tires spin at the same rate and the jeep will move ( or at least have a better chance of moving)
