01 TJ with 168,000 miles?

Hey guys, so I have come across a wrangler with 168,000 miles, its a MT and seems to be in good shape. It has a new clutch, brakes, soft top, and tires. Is there anything I should be looking out for? Whats the typical engine/transmission life? As far as I know, it was never taken off road, and only used to commuter.

Thanks Guys.

4 or 6 cylinder? Nothing lasts forever, but the 4.0 and 5 speed will get you pretty close if they are taken care of. Exhaust manifold breakage is really the biggest common problem that I can think of for the 4.0.

First, Welcome to the forum. 168,000 and never been in 4WD? I think that there is a law against that. As mentioned above, the exhaust and rear axle seals are about all you really need to worry about depending on how well the po took care of it. I would definitely take it for a 4-wheel test drive before buying.

With high miles.. look out for everything. These are great and reliable rides, but high miles on anything will have a leak here and there and a part or two that need replacing. Make sure you get a fair price.
