Exclamation 02 wrangler swap to 350v8

Hey everyone, I have been wanting to swap my 6cyl 4.0L to an chevy 350 ever since I got my Wrangler. I just recently got the opportunity to purchase a 350 engine for cheap money. But before i jump into this swap, i was wondering what i will have to upgrade, buy, and need !. Also if anyone knows how to wire it to pass emissions?? Please help !! Thanks..

Your better off going with newer motors especially if you need to pass emissions. Most states that require emissions won't allow engine swaps with motors older than your vehicle anyway.

Try looking at the Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi, LS2 or the newer GM 5.3L

Just bought a True Hi9 rear and a D44 front, both with ARB's and 4.88 gears!! Check out the build!

If you want a chevy, the 350 is a fine way to go. I'm happy with my TJ / Chevy 350 efi swap. Would I do it again? Probably not. Next time, I'd want more HP, so probably swap a 6.0 LS series GM motor.

As a general statement, the entire Jeep needs to work as a whole unit. That means, the engine cannot overpower the transmission, which in turn cannot overpower the axles, which in turn cannot overpower the brakes, etc. So be prepared, that upgrading an engine for most folks, means rebuilding the entire rig.

To JUST install the engine, you'll need to consider: motor mounts, fuel lines, new radiator, new fans, new exhaust, new air intake system, computers or some other means of controlling the engine, new guages or some way of adapting your guages to work (which is problematic).

I've only been on Wranglerforum for a few months, and in that time, I've seen a dozen threads on GM installs in TJ threads. So do some reading here, theres already a lot posted.

A 318,or 360, is a lot cheaper and easier to swap in and it will communicate with your gauges

easiest and fastest would be a 318, because they are easier to find than a 360, and an az15 will handle it fine
