03 TJ with 2.4l clutch replacement

Hey, guys... I just have a quick question before I start getting dirty.

My clutch has been slipping occasionally for about a week. Yesterday on the interstate it was really bad. Before I could get to an exit to pull over, I heard what sounded like lots of little metal pieces falling out and banging together. Needless to say now I can't move the Jeep at all.

I've already ordered a clutch kit, but what do you think the odds are that I'll need to replace the flywheel as well? And how, exactly, will I know if it's bad once I get in there?

Sounds like your clutch pac came apart. Being you drove it while it was slipping and continued there is a very high chance you will need to replace the flywheel . You may be able to resurface it but I know a lot of the chrysler flywheels are not supposed to be resurfce because of the shape.

Don't mean to derail but what clutch did you end up getting? I haven't been able to find too many that are for a 2.4l.

Truthfully, I'm not sure of the brand. My roommate works at car quest so he found it and gave me his employee discount. I'll ask and get back to you.

If I do end up having to replace this flywheel (and I know dual mass flywheels can't be resurfaced so if it's bad, I WILL need a new one) do you guys have any recommendations on brand? Honestly, it hasn't been easy finding them online for the 2.4l. I would love to find something under $500 of decent quality.
