I put on a 2" coil lift and a 1" body lift in the middle of fall. I did not put on the tcase shifter bracket cause something came up and I couldn't finish the lift. Long story short is, it's winter and i tried my 4 wheel drive on the way home yesterday and it did not let me pull the lever up. It would reach a point like 3 inches up and seem locked. I then realized I never installed that shifter bracket, so i took it to work today and put it on. Still 4 wheel, will not engage. When i pull up the 4 wheel drive lever up it seems to hit a bar or be locked, it's hard to explain. Looked underneath and nothing seems to be stopping 4 wheel from engaging. I don't really want to take it to our local 4 wheel drive shop and have them look at it because i'm sure it's nothing too difficult but i might have to if i can't figure it out. Anyone have any ideas? anything would be greatly appreciated.
just to be sure i saw the nut earlier, how do i adjust it like step by step? sorry i just want to be sure so i can fix it asap. more snow on the way in the next few days and i am trying to have some fun!
i read it but i'm still confused. let me quote the write up
"Check the transfer case shifter to see if it will move to 4L. If
not, the linkage will need adjusting. Place the shifter in 4L"
how can i put it in 4L when i can't even lift the lever above 4H i'm not understanding it. i mean am i reading it wrong or what?
I just loosened the bolt, adjusted the linkage where it seemed it needed to be, tightened the bolt, put it in 4H, 4L. Took for a ride, tried the 4W out, worked good, never thought about till now. I used a leathermen with pliers, not sure what size wrench it was. Took about 2 minutes to do in the Wal Mart parking lot.
just got done adjusting the linkage. goes into 4H but getting it into 4L is more difficult. still need more adjusting and if so what to do when bolt is undone. loosened bolt and pulled lever to 4L and tightened but it wouldn't go back to 2H. put it in 2H and loosened bolt and pulled lever and tightened bolt and thats where i stand. it goes into 4H but seems loose when it's in 2H. doesnt seem to have that "click" it normally does when putting it in 4 wheel drive. any suggestions? sorry to bug you guys
Alright i think i got it now. its engaging all 4 settings like usual now. were supposed to get 5-8 inches of snow tonight so i'm going to have to take the long to work to try it out.
