'05-'06 Unlimited (LJ) Premium Package

There were three LJ Unlimited models: Base, Rubicon, and Premium.

The LJ Premium Unlimited was model year '05 and '06 and consisted of premium cloth seat fabric, silver center stack and instrument panel bezel, bright grill, and body colored fender flares.

I've never seen an Unlimited Premium Package and was hoping someone who owns one could post up a few pix. Thanks.

My '05 LJ is identified as a "Sport" on the factory window sticker, but no Sport badging. It does not have any premium features, but it does have the seven-speaker system.

I've seen a number of the Premium LJs. They also usually included the self-dimming.compass mirror.

Here's a pic of an LJ Premium from my 2006 Wrangler sales brochure

2005 lj

I believe I have a 2005 LJ Premium,
It did come with the features you described including the Chrome grill insert which I removed the first day I got it.

I did get a build sheet and will check to see what it says...

^nice LJ! Thanks for looking for your Build Sheet, should be informative.

thanks for the pix folks. great, a black one and a white one, they both look sharp, I can see the different seat fabric in the picture of the black example. I think the body colored flares with the larger wheelbase TJ really pop. I too am not a huge fan of chrome grills on Wranglers I'd also remove it and save it if I had one.

What other body colors were available on the Premium Package LJ? Any interior shots?

Did any LJ rubicons come with a premium package?
or what would be considered standard vs premium with a rubicon?

from my literature the Premium Package on the LJ was separate from the Rubicon LJ so no you could not order a Rubicon with the Premium Package.

remember the Rubicon was a distinct model of Wrangler, with a unique VIN identifier whereas the Premium Package was an option added to the base LJ which was essentially am LJ Sport, although Jeep never tagged any LJ as "Sports".......you could not tell from the VIN alone whether or not an LJ had the Premium Package, you would need the Build Sheet.

Okay gotcha. So would auto dimming rear view mirrow with comp/temp, and 7 speaker sound be just part of mine being a rubicon?

The auto dimming mirror came part of the security package that included Sentry Key.

I believe after model year 2004 all TJ's got the upgraded rear view mirror.

The 7-speaker sound system was standard on the Sahara beginning model year 2002 (or maybe 2001?) and was optional on all other TJ(except the SE)/LJ I believe all the way to the end in 2006. So yes you can have a Rubicon with the 7-speaker system.

I believe mine is the premium edition. I checked the axles today after reading another post, looks like I have Dana 44's front and rear.

MICHAEL: that is a sharp looking LJ, the black hard top looks nice against the silver body. Did you remove the fog lights?

I believe the only TJ to ever receive a D44 front axle was a Rubicon and there was no Premium Package available on a Rubicon according to the literature I have. Is the sixth digit in your VIN a "6"?

I didn't remove them, they weren't there when I bought it last Oct. Did they all come with the fog light switch built in to the headlight stalk? I ask because my Ram came with a non-fog switch and I replaced it with the factory fog light switch when I added factory fog lights. The wiring was already there.

I believe all TJ Unlimiteds came with factory fog lights and the multi-function switch on the steering column that operated the fogs....the fogs are simple to remove, maybe the p.o. took them off?

Looks like you have an LJ with the premium package.
You will have a D44 rear, your front axle was a Dana 30 from the factory.
It is possible someone swapped in a D44 front from a Rubicon... ?

Pics of your front differential cover will clear this up.
