05 tj sputter

I've got a 05 tj 2.4L that has a periodic rough idle and sometimes when you're drivin it it'll sputter out and seem like it's gonna stall, but after a fee seconds the power comes back in and it'll run fine for a while after that. I've heard it might be a tps or a o2 sensor, I dont have any lights on. What do y'all think?

X2. My '02 does this too. TPS and Fuel pump changed. I had the long crank problem. Still do, but not anywhere near as bad. It only does it a few blocks after starting and only once in a while. No codes on mine either.

Sounds like it could be an O2 sensor. Startup fine and after a short while it starts to run rough for a while, then it will settle down and be fine until you shut it off and restart. Only did it sporadically when it started then it got to be every time I would start it after 6-9 months later.

I didn't notice any code at first.

Do you remember which sensor? Would that cause the longer crank time before starting?

If it's an O2 sensor, it would have to be the before cat sensor- the after cat sensor is little more than a catalyst efficiency monitor, and I doubt it would have any effect at all on the engine at cold start conditions.

It's likely worth changing, I don't think it's that expensive- we just replaced one on my son's 2001 (yes, I know- different engine) however, it was like 25 bucks for a plug-in replacement.
