06 Rubicon ignition woes

Over helping my brother with his CJ I went to leave and the 2006 Rubicon wouldn't start. Full power to everything. tried several times to start it with nothing. Then the gauge lights and other dash lights come on like the key is stuck in the on position, even with the key out the lights are on. I pulled the battery cables and will look more into tomorrow. A little research and all I can come up with is the ignition actuator pin is broken or another less likely cause might be the positive leads to the fuse and relay box under the hood. The key does a feel a bit stiff I guess I would say it doesn't feel like it did at any rate. Tomorrow I am going to see NAPA about a new actuator pin but thought I'd bounce off of the forum here and see if anyone else has ran into this problem. This does have tilt wheel and Chryslers key sentry crap on it. Has anyone done away with the key sentry?
