1997 hard top Question

I just purchased my first Jeep, a 1997 manual 4cyl. Wrangler SE soft top. Since we've had it one week it's been broken into and vandalized. I want to find a hard top for it but don't know if mine is a TJ. My paperwork only says it's an SE. I did a search but came up empty concerning the SE vs TJ. Would someone tell me what I am suppose to look for, please. Thanks

A 1997 Wrangler is a TJ. It has round headlights and looks like this:

97-06 is a TJ. Any 97-06 hard top will fit.

Your 97 Jeep Wrangler is a TJ. Your Model is a SE. There was also a Sport and Sahara model for that year. Sorry about the break in.

only top that will not fit would be for the much longer unlimited model.

Any top from 1997-06 will fit, I agree. But you might discover that you need a bit of adapting for the wiring kit (not a big deal). And the vent moved at some point from the back windows of the hard top to the tailgate. So if you get a hard top with less venting, you may have some issues slamming your doors shut.

Minor stuff.

I think the vent moved around '02, but that may be entirely wrong. Anyway, if you can find a hard top with the vents on the rear corners you won't have the door closing issues...

03 the vent went to the tailgate. I think people make more of an issue that it is about being able to close the doors.
