1997 TJ hardtop question?

My son has a 1997 TJ with lower steel half doors.

My questions is that we are looking for a hard top for him before winter and want to know if there is a hardtop available that will work with soft-top uppers?

The uppers have the glass sliders.

Just want to utilize temporarily until I can get the the hard uppers as well.

Any and all feedback will be truly appreciated.

Thank you!

Yup. the soft top doors will work fine with a hard top. You just need to remove the door surrounds that attach to the roll bar, before you put the hard top on.
Heres a pic of my 97 with hard top and soft uppers.

Solman, I seriously thought you just swiped a picture of my jeep there and posted it. I have almost the exact same setup with a black '97 sport, tan hard top, black soft uppers with sliders, black wheels. Kinda freaked me out. The soft uppers with sliders works great with the hardtop.

I've got the same setup but with a blue Jeep, black uppers, and a tan top. It honestly doesn't look great with the hard top on, but full hard doors are freakin expensive.

Thumbs up

Thanks for all the input. That answers my question. Yeah, almost $1000.00 for two small half doors!! WOW!

Thanks again!!!

That's why I bought mine with full doors. I might buy myself some half doors one day if I run across a set cheap, but probably not. No doors trumps half doors.

If you want cheap hard doors look for some CJ7 or YJ doors they will work with a little bit of adjusting and minor fabrication. I have CJ7 doors on my TJ for the winter and trails. I think I paid $30 for the pair.

if you have the upper sliders, for 'most' intents and purposes they are considered full doors. Mine has the sliders and came w/hard top. i recently bought a soft top and went nuts trying to figure out which one i needed(top w/frame). Called rampage and they told me i needed the ST for full doors(door surrounds)-which i got. works fine.
