1999 TJ Man. Transmission Lag/Slipping

Can anyone tell me what might be causing my transmission to lag/slip in 1st and 2nd gear, espcially in 2nd? When I hit about 2K RPM if feels like my transmissoin stops pulling and the Jeep slows down, then all of a sudden it catches and starts jolting the Jeep back and forth. Transmission fluid is full and clean. Any ideas? Also have some synchro noise, not sure if that has anything to do with it either. Thank you in advance for your help!

Mike

Sounds like it might be time for a clutch.

Clutch and assembly was fully replaced back in 2009 so thats why I didnt think that that would be the problem. But it makes sense. Thanks!

Might wanna replace the filter. Mine had morning sickness for a month or so and the fluid was clean but I replaced the fluid and filter just to make sure. The old filter looked at little "gunked up" and I no longer experienced any lag after I put the new one in. Mines a 2000 Sahara auto

Thanks guys. Gonna take it in to get checked out just in case Im missing something. Most likely going to go with a new clutch kit (Luk Gold Clutch Kit) and replace the rear main seal, even though its not leaking, since the tranny will be dropped. With that all being done it will have new fluid, etc. If that doesnt fix it then Im clueless. Appreciate the advice and let me know if Im missing anything.

His is a standard, no filter...

Check the fluid level in the clutch cylinder and check the operation of the slave cylinder.

Another thing I just thought of, you might have some air in the system (happened to me once. clutch was spongy/weak)

Whoops, somehow missed that you have a manual tranny. Besides the obvious fluid check, it's the clutch. Good luck.

You don't want a Gold, just a regular Luk. And since your profile provides no useful info I cannot comment on the RMS plan.
