2.5 inch coil springs

It's time to replace my Tj shocks. I want to add around 2-2.5' of lift. Rancho makes 2.5' longer springs,and I can get Rancho 5000 to match.My question is, do I want spring spacers or longer springs? And besides bumpstops, do I need anything else for the lift?

I will comment on this post because I have personal experience with a 2.5 inch lift on a TJ..

I thought I could get away with just springs and shock too but NO.. Trust me on this because I have been there. I would pick up front and rear adjustable track bars (or the brackets if you are on a tight budget). Tcase drop brackets (orSYE and CV driveshaft). Longer swaybar connects in the front and rear (or disconnects up front if you have the money). You will probably have to adjust your steering too (I did many times).

With the TC drop, its really just a band aid. It masks your problems (driveline vibs) for a while (in some cases a pretty long time) but in the long run can create more problems for you too. I DID run the drop kit for a while and my vibs started up again so I finally gave in and did the Slip Yoke Eliminator and a CV drive shaft. Now some people will say you NEED rear adjustable control arms with the SYE kit but EVERY JEEP IS DIFFERENT and with a 2.5 inch lift you probably wont... I DIDN'T NEED THEM.. but like I said, every jeep is different.

I hope this helps. Its NEVER as simple as just springs and shocks though.

ALSO... Stay away from cheap crap brands like Rough Country. I went cheap at first and then ended up replacing EVERYTHING from them with high quality parts because I had trouble with the cheapy stuff. You dont have to go with the highest price stuff but get something decent that will last.

Currie, JKS, Serious Offroad 1 ton steering, Bilstein shocks are some of what I run now and I have NO PROBLEMS with any of it.

Wow, seems like a ton of work to gain so little. Thought the point of 2 inch lifts was not having to drop the t-case.. I am will dosway bar discos up front if necessary..

Well, like I said my friend.. Every Jeep is different but I can only speak for myself. I ABSOLUTELY NEEDED the drop kit to get rid of the driveline vibes. Even then it just masked it enough to get me through a few months (8 months) until I did my SYE and CV Driveshaft.

If you DO decide to lift your Jeep then I am here if you have ANY questions as I have been through it ALL with the small lift.

I will say though, I EASILY clear 33" tires at full flex with a 2.5 inch lift and a little fender flair trimming. NO RUBBING..

I have no intent of running 33's, Maby 32. At most, but if I'm looking. At like $2000 the old jeep will stay stock...

Avoid spacers and go with springs. You should go with good lifts such as OME, BDS, or Zone. I'm not familiar with the Rancho lifts but I currently have and really like the Rancho adjustable 9000 shocks along with my 2" OME lift. If going with 2.5" SL lift or less, you should just really need shocks and bumpstops. I suggest adding a 1" bodylift and an MML to add more clearance and help with driveline angles. All the other stuff that DangitsVictor mentioned are not needed for a mild lift. The rear axle will be slightly off centered but a rear adjustable trackbar is really not needed unless it's way off or you're anal about it.(it won't affect tire wear)

Well... I've had the coils and shock tera lift with no driveshaft mods or drop brackets and the jeep never gave problems...

You don't need to shell out too much cash for a 2.5 lift kit if it's for a everyday driver, just do the installation right. Any suspension can suck if it's not installed correctly. I have a Jeep with a RC 2.5 and it's never gave me a problem, but if you plan going offroading get a better quality lift like Rock krawler or Teraflex

The jeep is my daily driver. But I do take it off-road, so far it has gone everywhere I've asked. But I would like to lift for times when its wet, and some of the rocks aren't visible..
