2" Lift and rough ride-

I recently did some suspension work to my 01 Wrangler Sport 4.0L..Greatly improved my off road clearance and ability to plow through snow and mud..but abslutley killed the ride I had.
2" Lift
4 Mt Ryder Extreme Foam Cell Shocks
31" Goodyear Duratracs.

Now I have run run my tires at 24-25 psi just to go down a dirt road.
Forget about speed bumps in parking lots...like I have to crawl over them or I get air...

Which of the 3 killed the ride?

I'm thinking it was the shocks? And they have to go..
Any ideas? I could use some help.

tx

Shocks.. They make a huge difference.. A positive example is OME shocks.. They actually improve your ride over stock

Let's start off with what kind and brand of lift did you install?

Neil,

Good question...since it was done at my Les Swab tire dealer--its just listed as a 2" lift..no brand name specific.
Question off the topic...can you tell me how to enable forum responces to my email-so I can get notified when I get a response?
2. How to locate the thread I start?

The EMU shocks have a good rep--but jeeez $400 BUCS....
I use the Rancho 9000 adjustables inmy pickup..seem to work pretty well..

Any thoughts on 9000's?
Tx.

Rancho 9000XL's are awesome but they're more expensive than OME's.

So, regarding this lift...I've got a few questions
What specifically is included in this no-name brand lift that you bought? Coil spring or spacer lift? How much bumpstop extension front and rear? whats the compressed shock length front and rear?

if you can't answer those basic questions, then the problems could be more than just buying new shocks. it sounds to me like you spent money on a POS from a shop that specializes in tires, not suspensions. now you've wasted X amount of money on a POS set up that you'll ultimately need to spend more money to fix/replace with quality components...

The Lift kit is a Tough Country 1.75 Spacer lift. So springs are stock. Can I measure bump stop? And if so-where to where? Or does it matter since its a spcer kit.
Shocks were made for the 2" lift..
So Im thinking--since its just a spacer kit..that leaves shock or tires...Everyone rides these Duratracs right? Back to shocks being the issue...

???

If you still have your stock shocks, throw them back on and it should help tell you if the problem is the stiff aftermarket shocks.

Unfortunetly stock shocks are gone....

Having adjusted the tire pressure from 22-32 psi for trail riding..I know what results that gives me-soft but mushy ride on the trail..I can't drive with a lower then 25psi on the highway.

guess that leaves these $45 shocks as the culprit to my VERY stiff ride.

It's your shocks, without a doubt. Spring spacers alone won't stiffen the ride like that. Replace your shocks and stop peeing blood.

Yes, the shocks are most likely the problem. Good shocks will cost around $60-100 each.

With a 2" spacer lift, you also need 2" rear bumpstop extensions. And 1" front bumpstop extensions are a good idea. If these weren't included in the kit, you need to remedy that. That means you'll need to uninstall everything that was installed by the shop, install the bumpstop extensions, then reinstall everything. Don't worry, it's pretty easy with basic hand tools.

here's a 2" rear kit -
Jeep Accessories - Rear Bumpstop Extension Kit

in front, you drill and tap the spring pad and install the bumpstop extension - these work:

Les Schwaub Spacer lift. Les Schwaub spring lift. Stay away from Les Schwaub lifts. Unfortunatly, you found out one reason why. Better shocks will make a big difference along with the bumpstop adjustments. Then you should be good to go!
