2000 Sahara windshield mirror mount

I've got a 2000 Sahara that I installed the mirror windshield mount brackets on.I did this so I could remove the doors and change to half doors with out having to buy 2 sets of mirrors or change the mirrors from door to door.plus I don't have to hassel with the mirrors when I store the doors or worry about breaking them. the problem is they are too short now. when I push them in so I can see,the door pushes them back when I open it. I twisted the strap on the door so it wouldn't open so far,but it still does it.I need a mirror with a longer arm but can't find any listed for my Jeep.any ideas?

That's what happens with the mounts. Many of us use a motocycle mirrior. The stem just sticks in the hinge hole. Do a search on "mirrior", "Harley mirrior" There are lots of threads.
