2000 TJ Heater Wires

Guys, started troubleshooting why my blower motor problem today. The motor doesn't come on. The flap moves to change air circulation, and the cold/hot air flap works as well. I checked fuses and they are good. So I jumped power to the blower motor and it works. Next I pulled the heater controller out of the dash and found wires that have been worked on by a previous owner. There looks like there should be a 3 terminal plug at the vaccuum actuator but it is missing. And I have a 12 gage Green and Black wire connected with a wire nut. And a separate small 18 gage green wire that is just taped up (this wire has 12v). Does anybody know what this plug would do, and why would the large black and green wires be connected?

not 100% sure but i think that you can just replace the harness and call it a day - http://www.jeep4x4center.com/air-con...5013744aa.html (that SHOULD be the one that fits your 2000) im PRETTY sure that harness has the 3 prong plug, and the rest of the wiring on it

Looks like you need to replace that vacuum switch due to the melted terminals. then you can also get a replacement pigtail for the missing connector that hooks to the switch. I'm not sure off hand why the 2 wires would be connected without looking at a wiring diagram but I would imagine if you provide power to the smaller wire it would cause the blower to work since the 2 connected are the ground and the other is a blower motor feed.

You might take a look at this writeup in JP Jeep fire prevention

You can get new switches online Heater switch OEM part number 5013833AA

Pigtail harness youd probably have to goto the dealer OEM part number 68080536AA

The three wires are
A C90 20LG A/C SELECT INPUT

B C1 12DG BLOWER MOTOR FEED

C Z1 12BK GROUND

This is some good information guys. Thanks. I've got a partial wiring schematic that doesn't include this plug, that's the reason I'm trying to see if anyone knew. I'll continue to look for a good schematic and these links as well.

The three wires that should go on those tabs are fan relay (12ga.), Ground (12 ga.) and the 18 gauge green is the a/c control.

I see the fan relay on the schematic, but where is the physical location of this relay in the Jeep?

Hardermods- I appreciate the info. I just received the switch and the harness pigtail you mentioned. BTW, I don't have the plug so I'll assume the "A" "B" & "C" terminal description you gave is accurate. I'll verify to the schematic.
