2000 TJ rearend

How do I tell what rearend and gear ratio I have on my 2000 TJ with 4 cylinder. AND if I want to change the gears out, do I have to get the ring and pinion master installation kit also? thanks for your help.

Do you have an auto or manual?
It should be on the diff cover. You can also jack the rear end up and count how many turns of the drive shaft it takes to turn the tires once. If only one tire turns, make it turn twice and count the DS rotations.

Are you the original owner? Or did a previous owner put a D44 in there?
I'm pretty sure 2.5L only came with the D35 rear end. And yes you will.
But I'll say this, unless you have alot of experience with this and/or have someone else who knows exactly what they're doing, have a shop do it.

Nice. Yeah I'd say he's good to go then.

Hey, could be worse. At least you aren't an LSU or a fan of that maroon and white school. We can still be friends
