2001 soft top ?

I have a 2001 with a soft top I recently purchased, when I got it the factory roof had holes in it as did the side windows and the rear window was just old and faded... I want to replace the while top with another top. I have been told to get a best top brand but when I go to the site it really throws me for a loop didn't know there was that many fabrics available. I want one that I'd just as tough as the factory one and that will last more than 5 years.. They have fabric, tweeds, I have no clue what these are. My factory hardware is still in nice shape so I am hoping to reuse all that. I am in need of the top ASAP. So hope I get some help on this thanks in advance!

You want the Bestop Replace-A-Top which will be the skin and windows. Any 97-06 fabric/color/diamond denim will fit your frame. As indicated above, you want sailcloth.

From the factory.

97-00 was denim, 00-06 was diamond (note there was a mix 01-02)

Visually you have to look close at them. Denim with have lines at 90 degrees. Diamond has tiny diamond shaped bumps. Denim (Black) will look more grayish compared to diamond

Denim was standard weight fabric. Daimond was sailcloth and thicker/heavier ( 01-02 sailcloth was even heavier)

01-02 was an oddball year for tops. 97-02 they started making 4 ply sailcloth tops (03-06 was a slightly thinner 3 ply sailcloth). 97-02 also had standard weight denim tops. If yours is sailcloth diamod pattern. I had an 01 sailcloth top.

Twill is new. I only quickly saw a few posts on it on jeepforum.com and I think I read that it is hard to clean off mud stains (if you off road)

Ok thanks for all the info. It doesn't matter if I had the denim or diamond pattern right when I go to order the new sail lots one from best top?? I did see the replacement top on there site. If I recall it was already a sailcloth fabric.

Bestop Replace-a-top Sailcloth. Take a pic of yours and I'm sure we can give you links galore to the product that matches and has recommended fabric. Your hardware is good, so searching for replace-a-tops will help you narrow down.

Your 01 is most likely Diamond 4 ply sailcloth. You can order either Diamond or Denim but Diamond IMHO is nicer visually but again it is tough to discern.

(don't know where you are buying from but shop around Morris, Qtech, JCWhitney, Amazon and just Google the part number for the best price. The forum vendors do offer discounts/shipping/price match)

I have been looking all morning at these tips, called jeeperz Creeperz a few min ago and she told me to go with a rugged ridge they got em for 400 bucks with the tinted windows..I went to beat top and found the sailcloth replace a top(sailcloth) with tinted windows its like 620. I want something for sure that us gonna last and be easy to put on and take off and also something that is not going to show mud stains so easy to clean! If I was to go with a non sailcloth from best top are they any good? Are zippers pretty much the same on all them?

Well the general recommendation on this forum, other forums and above is to go with sailcloth. (do what you want) Sailcloth is thicker, quieter and should last longer than the thinner standard weight fabric.

The zippers are the same sail/standard
