2002 drivetrain options

I am looking at a 2002 TJ that still belongs to the original owner. He has told me the jeep has dana 60's front and rear. Was this a factory option? How much value would this add to the vehicle? Any ideas??

It doesn't have Dana 60's front and rear. It should have a Dan 30 up front and either a 35c or 44 in the rear.

The 44 will have a metal drain plug and the 35c has a plastic.

Alright guys this Jeep has a metal drain plug in the rear end. I guess it's a dana 44? Was this an expensive option? How about an idea if 10,000 is a good price on this machine. It is a 02 with 58K and the inline six and five speed. It has the Hard top installed and a NEW never installed soft top. I am not an expert on these vehicles, I know you guys know alot more about them than I do. Thanks Troy.

It is a sport model with 4.0 inline six and a five speed manual transmission. 58k miles Jeep is near perfect, completely stock, one owner with both tops, the soft top has never benn installed.

If it's all "stock"....with a metal plug in the rear axle it has a D30 front axle and a D44 rear axle.

D60 wasn't a factory option. AT ALL.

Double check to make sure it has a metal plug just to be sure. And if it is what you like or looking for buy it.

Stock jeeps are better to buy than a modified one. Not only is it not been "jacked" with, you can build it and set it up to your liking.

Good luck on your choice.

10k sounds about rite but always try to get it lower. that sounds like a good dd jeep but if your looking to wheel find something older with more miles and use the extra $$ for mods.

i'd say $10K is a descent price. kelly blue book value on that is about $10,700 in excellent condition.

i paid $12.5K last summer for a 2000 sport with 69,000 miles.. Granted, it was lifted 4" and had the D44, SYE, CV, Dual Tops (my Bestop soft top was unused as well), and 33 X 12.5" BFG mud terrains.. You could eat off the engine and undercarriage and I don't think she ever spent a night outside of a garage.. $10K sounds like a pretty good deal considering summer is approaching and jeeps tend to spike in value around this time.. I would love to see some good pics and help you out if I could.. I searched for 6 months until I found my girl..
