Smile 2002 TJ soft top

I have had a couple other Wranglers, but I am having a heck of a time with the soft top on my 2002 TJ. I bought it this winter & this is the first time I have tried to take the top off.
My question is, how do I get the front part of the top off of the front side rails?

kinda hard to explain, but here goes......
if you're looking right at the side above the door, take your right index finger and squeeze it between the door channel thing and the plastic clip on the top on the right side (there are 2 parts that clip in). just kind pull down from that and work your finger toward the left and it will pop out. it's actually going to hurt your finger a bit cause it clips in pretty tight....which is a good thing. feel free to substitute a screwdriver for your finger.
do the same thing for the other one, using the opposite hand and index finger.

Hi COJeeper,

The sides are refered to as belt rails and as txst8tj stated they are snug. Have personally not had to use a screw driver, nor would I want to miss....Just place your finger in the rear of the belt rail and work it out. When you go to do the top dont forget to loose the clasp's at the header behid the sun visors. Do not remove them till the end leave them partially in the header and then remove the side windows and the rear window....Dont forget to loose the rear coners and fold them up onto the top....when you fold the top dont forget the belt rails should be folded toward you and in the shape of a 'v'...

There is a post here (Help!?!) but I can't find it, but it is a link to the DVD from the dealer that shows you step by step directions. Very nice. I wish I would have saved it. The first time I took mine down, it took forever and I nearly tore it up, a little practice and it only takes about 5 minutes...
