2002 Wrangler air filter housing

I just removed a snorkel from my jeep & purchased the OEM air filter housing for my Wrangler. My question now is, is there a certain way the the air intake nozzle needs to be pointing for better air flow?

Thanks so much for the help.

Bought my 97 Wrangler with 100k on it, and the intake nozzle was pointed sorta at the crack of the hood/right fender. My 2005 has 23,000 on it and its pointed the same way, toward the crack in the hood/fender.

just my .02

I remember when I first opened the hood on mine and it was pointing up into the curve of the hood.

That may be a more accurate description, hold on ill get a pic. Keep in mind, this is how I got it with 23,000 and 2 years old. As you have noticed, the nozzle spins pretty easily, so this may not be the "factory" location, but this is how my other one was too and the dealership hasnt moved it yet.

JCS - that is the correct factory orientation... but if you remove that little thing, it adds the risk of sucking in water and other bad stuff.

you can either take it off, or turn it and point it down. it acts like a funnel for water when its pointed up like that. i know from experience.
