"...There is also the matter of the tan dashboard and interior panels, and that is what would clash with most of the non-Saraha colors. ......"

SHERPA: the color you refer to for 2002 was called Camel. Camel seats and dashboard and interior panels were available on all 2002 Wranglers (X, SE, Sport and of course Sahara) according to the dealer brochure. But Camel was the only interior color available for the Sahara, according to the brochure. Besides, tan goes with everything right? So that can't explain the limited Sahara exterior colors.

you could have a Camel interior Sport painted Flame Red and indeed the brochure features several pictures of a Red/Camel Sport in action.

and from above posts it is clear you could have a Dana 44 axle and drum brakes after model year 2002....but never a Dana 44 with ABS.

there was no factory Towing Package for the 2002 Wranglers, only a dealer-installed hitch, so the Dana 44 axle in 2002 was a stand-alone option item, not bundled in a package.

Was there a factory Towing Package on the 2003-2006 TJ?

good info folks!

Furthermore I have 3 friends with exactly the same setup but different year Saharas.

So it sounds like the combinations were:

D35 drums ABS
D35 drums without ABS
D44 drums ABS
D44 drums without ABS
D44 disks without ABS

"D44 drums ABS"

no, ABS was never paired with any Wrangler's Dana 44, even a drum-equipped Dana 44....according to these brochures.

unless the Rubicon Dana 44's got ABS.....?????

Rubicon models had disc brakes at the rear so that is a seperate matter.

Dana44 rear on non-Rubicon models did not get ABS.

If you connect all the dots per the 2006 sales brochure, you will come to a different conclusion.

ABS with drum brakes was an option on the Sport only. ABS required the 30" Wheel and Tire package; said package included the Dana 44 rear axle.

Conclusion: the Sport model was offered with ABS, Dana 44 rear axle and drum brakes.
