2003-2006 Rubicon Spicer U-Joint Part Numbers

I've been having lots of trouble trying to find the actual Spicer part numbers for my 2005 Rubicon. After searching around a bunch of forums and websites I think I have found everything and was hoping you guys can confirm. I still don't know the Spicer part number for the front wheel u-joints.

1. 5-213X
2. 5-213X
3. 5-212X
4. 5-3147X
6. 5-212X
9. ???

Thanks

So was 5-297X the original supplied front axle u joint? Is the 5-760X a better replacement?

Thanks

Yep the Rubicon uses the Spicer 5-760x for the front axle shafts. The factory shipped non-Rubicon TJs with the older Spicer 5-297x which is the same size as the stronger/more durable 5-760x. The 5-760x is a direct replacement for the 5-297 and is a good upgrade for non-Rubicons.

Actually, Spicer developed the 5-760x specifically for the Rubicon at Jeep's request when they felt a stronger front u-joint was desireable.

Sweet thanks! All those other U-joints I posted above appear to be the greasable versions according to NAPA autoparts. Does anybody know what the spicer non-greasable U-joints are for a Rubicon?

Also where do you guys buy Spicer u joints? There is something odd about special ordering them from NAPA. Quadratec doesn't carry all of them.

I've seen a few people talk about getting them from here.

The recommended 5-760x is sealed and without a zerk fitting.

Ok now I have set myself clear and can back up the information from my first post of what I have found surfing around the net. This also confirms NAPA's website is wrong. I don't think they can backorder Spicer parts. I think they are just Spicer replacements they refer too.

Attached I found a Spicer U-Joint Catalog. Here is the page on the Wrangler.

Secondly, I found that Spicer makes a complete kit that includes all the U-joints you would need for your Jeep. And these are all strong non-greasable joints! The kit number for a TJ Rubicon is SPL1019JK and for the LJ Rubicon is SPL1020JK.

I've also attached this info as well.

My biggest problem is: Where do you buy this stuff? It seems like every website only carries the 5-760X U-Joint for a Rubicon and nothing else.

I didn't see that Denny's Driveshaft carries everything I need. They only had the 5-760X and the 5-1330X which I think I could use. Even Ebay didn't have all of them. I haven't called the dealership yet, but I'm sure I'm not going to be impressed with the price if they do sell Spicer parts. My guess is they will sell them for $75 a piece.

No major parts stores carry Spicer, How do they sell to the general public???

Go to Google's shopping website Google Product Search and type in "Spicer 5-760x" and you'll find online retailers that sell it.

Like this...

http://www.google.com/search?q=spice......0.0...1ac.1.

^ Thanks I tried that and found a website called Drivetrain America that looks like they carry everything. I think I'm good to go now. Hopefully this helps anyone else out searching for this stuff in the future. I still can't believe how much of a pain it is to get OEM parts...

Those are Spicer's official part numbers, they have been on the boxes I have bought in the past.

Yes they are u-joint part numbers for Spicer they all are in this format "5-***x". Note that those are for the rubicon model. The u-joints may be different for non rubicon models.

I busted one Sunday. There was't a parts store that had them in stock here. One store ordered them today and I want to make sure I get the right thing. Doesn't sound like the number they said. Will see in the morning. $73 for the pair

$73 for a pair of Spicer u-joints is outrageous. Next time order them yourself using Google's shopping website at Google Shopping.

And make sure they aren't supplying some other so-called "equivalent" which is normally a euphemism for their imported store brand.

Well these go in a daily driver so need them ASAP. That includes $10 for overnite with a local short haul freight company but still to much.

While your LJ uses the same 5-760x axle shaft u-joints, it doesn't use the same driveshaft u-joints as the Rubicon. Your non-Rubi LJ's driveshaft u-joints are all 1310 size which means a good Spicer u-joint for your driveshafts would be the 5-1310x.

Anyone by chance know if bruckhorse's update for the 05-06 rubicon u-joints is the same for an 04? Been hearing a lot of squeaking coming from my front left wheel lately, greased everything down there and still hearing it. Pretty sure its my U-joint since the Jeep has 81k on it with factory joints. Planning on ordering all new joint minus the rears since I plan on replacing my rear driveshaft with a new tom woods CV so I can trash my t-case drop. Again this is for a 2004 Rubicon

Not sure but think that stuff is outdated. I would wait for a better response but I see some stuff that is now off in that post. Don't know how much of it is included.

Edit. Jerry's post pointed out one of the things I saw. Still unsure about rest. Good luck.

Check out the last post:

U-Joints used in CV Driveshaft for '04 Rubicon - JeepForum.com

I looked up the part numbers and they are equivalent to the Spicer Part numbers or refer to obsolete Spicer part numbers that were replaced by the ones I posted.

As for the axle shaft U-Joint it is probably the same.

Ah stupid question but there are at least 3 different lists here, I assume you mean the most recently posted list?
Quote:

Center Ball Kit: 211179X
Rubicon w/ Rear DS #410AD @ T-Case: 5-795x
Rubicon w/ Rear DS #4
Also I'm not the most advanced with the names, looking at the image at the top I need to replace 1, 2, 3 and both 9's, not 100% sure which U-joint the centerball refers too and such...

Yes that list should be good for you according to the other poster. The center ball goes in between the 2 u joints on the CV side of the drive shafts. Idk if you're aware but you actually need 3 u joints plus the center ball to rebuild each driveshaft. You'll want to order 2 of the transfer case side joints. Here's a nice write up that shows you what the center ball looks like and where it goes.
