2003-2006 Rubicon's

Does anyone know of any key differences between these four different years of production? Were there any significant changes between 03-06 that would be worthy of noting if you were looking to purchase? Anyone have any experiences with certain years worth noting? Thanks for your contributions.

other than no apostrophe in the name, they're all pretty much the same.

03-06

From 2003-2006 The TJ was virtually unchanged.

A few things changes on the dash & console and colors were added and dropped.

But other than that there were no changes.

In 2003 the Seat Changed dramatically and so did the header for the spot there the top and windshield connected.

I don't know of one accessory or modification that will not cross over all three years!

Greg

PS in 2003 there were a few changes in the X and the Sahara but the Rubicon STOOD STRONG!

They changed the locker design in 2004 or 2005 and had some issues with failures during those years, but other than that, unchanged. The failures were ALL guys running big (35"+) tires on the stock axles. There were no (or none that I have heard of) issues with the 2003s. If you are not planning on running bigger tires, or staying around 33" tires, shouldn't have any issues with any of the years.

If you have to ask what it is or what it does, you don't need it, and you will need help to install it!

03 and 04 models have five speeds, 05 and 06 models have a six speed
i like the five speed better because fifth gear in the five speed is geared higher than the sixth gear in the six speed

You are right the trans in the 03-04 is a 5speed and the 05-06 are 6 speed, but the 1 st gear in the 05-06 are alot lower than the 03-04 1st on the 03-04 is about the same as 2nd on the 05-06. 5th on the 03 04 is the same final gear ratio as 6th on the 05-06.
