2004 Rubi Purchase

I am currently looking at a 2004 Rubi with 66K. The guy wants 13500 and it looks good, it has the rust spot below the license plate. The engine looks very clean and the carfax report gave it a +$1,236 to retail value. I am taking it to a mechanic tomorrow. Anything I should ask the mechanic to specifically look at. Im basically trying to figure out if it is worth it or what I should consider. Thanks for any help, can't wait to join the club!

That's a good deal. I bought my 05 rubicon with 114k for quite a bit more but from a dealer.

I'd have the mechanic literally check everything. Gears, lockers, tranny, belts, color of all fluids so you can get an idea if it has been changed and taken care of.

Lots of people look at the outside and easy stuff. But it's the gears, lockers etc that are expensive. Checking the fluid making sure it's not molasses or super bad allows you to get inside the jeep and see if it has been truly taken care of.

Anyways. Off my rant lol

Do not real on the mechanic to identify rust issues. Crawl under the rig yourself and check every inch for rot. Also look under the carpet floor rust.
