2004 Rubicon

Recently purchased a 2004 Rubicon with automatic transmission. Within the last week, the transmission started slipping while in drive into neutral. It usually lasts for 3-4 minutes before kicking back into drive. It seems to be less of a problem if the vehicle has been warmed up but it still happens even after five minutes of driving in the morning.
Any thoughts on where to start with the troubleshooting? I know almost nothing about cars and I recently got transferred to Pearl Harbor, HI so I don't have my usual trustworthy mechanics to help me out.

Have you checked the dipstick for the transmission to see if your fluid is low? And how many miles on the rig...might be time to drop the transmission pan, flush it out, clean the filter in there and put in new fluid. I'm going to have that done to my '03 before we start our summer runs here. Getting the same 'slippage' when I first start up.

Mileage is just about 52K which puts it near due for that I think. I'm just really hoping it's not indicative of a larger problem. I'll check the fluid and post back on here with results.
