It seems like the 6 speed in the Rubicon's has its little... corks. Mine has a hesitation from 1 to second. Nothing major. Others on here have express the issue with different gear changes. I only have 20,000 on mine. If i were you i would tell the seller to have the trans fluid changed to the original specs and go form there. All in all I think you are ok

check the engine for leaks around the valve cover, PCV valves and cylinder head. (at the oil filter)......crawl up under the thing and make sure the diff caps havent been tampered with...possible re-gearing...check for new looking bolts and nuts on the drag link...etc......maybe been lifted and wasnt dropped back properly...check the zerks for blown boots....get some death wobble goin on maybe...test drive it a few times as different speeds. let it set cranked for 15 minutes and watch the gauges....IE oil and heat...check the air filter too....its always a good sign to tell if the previous owners took care of it or not... a good jeeper will keep a clean one in there....a maller will expect jiffy-lube to change it...or in their case...air blow it out :P

ABOVE ANYTHING ELSE : test the 4 wheel drive...4H and 4L...BE SURE to test the axle locking in 4L. one push will lock the rear....two pushes will lock front and rear....push up to unlock front and again to unlock rear.....TEST THOSE TEST THOSE TEST THOSE!!!!!

Here's my thought on this, again.

It's an 04 RUBICON, with 94k on the clock for only $9k.

I wouldn't "tell" the previous owner anything but thank you very much sir, I will take good care of it.

Cances are strong that the vibes you're feeling are tire related from what you said about the existing tires. If the seller is willing to do something about the tires, then by all means let him. Don't be a snot and demand he restore the thing before you'll buy it because someone else will snatch it out from under you if you're not careful.

Remember
It's a 6 year old JEEP with 94,000 miles on it.
It's probable that you WILL need to make a few repairs. Accept that and plan for it by stuffing some money in a sock for a rainy day.

In the meantime, if you don't want it, tell me where it is. I'll call my credit union and come and get it. OBM would love to have a rig of his own.

^^^^Amen. I'll be up there in less than a day to secure that Jeep if he doesn't jump on it.

All right now. Lets calm it down now. I did not demand anything of him. He offerd before I even drove it. Same as he offerd to replace the cracked windshield. If he offers to fix somthing Im not going to tell him no. I'm just asking questions. Thanks for all of the great answers BTW.

I will be purchasing this Jeep. XD I am just waiting on the bank.
