2005 jeep rubicon opinion on worth the money

I have a chance to buy a 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon in khaki. Half doors. Softtop. Rubicon express 3.5 superflex kit. Mickeys on 35's. Six speed. 6700 miles! Looks brand new. The guy wants 20k for it. What do you guys think? I want to upgrade from a sport but I can't offord a new one but this is as close to a new used rubicon I can find. Opinions are welcomed.

Rubis rock! Sounds like he is trying to recoup his invested money on that. Id say 20 is a bit much. Mileage sounds good too. I'd say 15-17 sounds more reasonable.

I recently picked up a 06 rubicon lj with 100k on it well maintained though for 13k. It was pretty much stock. I have already started the mods...woohoo

False. With everything set up properly you can really do what you want. I ran 36's on 2" BB for a few months and had no problems rubbing in the front with highlines and only rubbed a little in the rear with almost no trimming.

Post some pics of it. 6700 miles is incredible, basically new. I thought I did good buying a tj with 80k haha. 20k sounds a bit steep though, I would say 15-17 if it really is in that good of condition.

I would also like to add that I think rubicons are worth the extra bit of cash and I sometimes wish got one instead of a sport.

Agree it sounds like owner trying to get premium dollar back for mods. I bought a 2006 Rubicon with both tops full doors and most of the options with 33,000 miles from private party for $16k here in Tidewater. Completely stock

Yes 6700 hundred miles. I talked to the seller again today. $19000 with the 35's not in picture, and some extra parts not on the jeep. Curries hd steering. Currie anti rock. Extra springs . Skid row engine skid. Tummy tucker kit. Extra set of shocks. Factory rock rails. Seat covers. The jeep is very nice, I know it's a lot but it is damn near new

I looked at new rubis today and they are 40,000. Get it before someone else does. 6700 miles in seven years???? Thats about 900 mikes per year Awesome.

Just looked on NADA and it sounds like a fair deal. AND 2006 was the last year for the TJ.

I just paid more than he is asking for my Rubi. Has more miles than yours but not by a ton. An mine is an unlimited with auto trans.

These things are expensive if you want a low mile clean example. Period.

20k is the resale value if selling off a car lot, but like people have said the guy is trying to get his investment back. But private sale value for the rubi even w/ everything listed still isn't worth that much, but considering the milage and the other upgrades I would take it because the tires alone new cost between $600-$1500. Otherwise that is a very good looking rig.

I say buy it! 6700 miles is crazy, there are many non rubi tjs that I see priced around the 17-20k mark and they have higher mileage.

I appreciate all the responses from y'all. I think it's a little strong but considering the previous owner is a stand up guy and the ruby is immaculate I'm gonna seal the deal. Thanks again, just need some reassurance from fellow jeepers

That's still high! $17,000-17,500 @ the most for 2005 Rubi. But this is my opinion.

In my opinion the pricing is in the ballpark--at least from my western perspective. I just bought an 06 Unlimited Rubi all stock barely 4000 miles, hardtop auto air cruise etc 21K. Enjoy the new ride if you get it.

There was a rubi lj in my town. It was an auto with just 9k on clock. Only mod was bumpers and it sold for 21k.

Take care here...20K is a lota bucks and you don't want to lose some of it...Let's say you have an accident and you file a claim...The insurance Co then decides to total it-happens everyday.

In the claims process, they will "devalue" your jeep by using NADA or KBB, plus come up with all sorts of chit in an effort to NOT pay you for what you have in it....Been there friend.

I fully understand your attraction to this vehicle and your willingness to pay his asking price, but don't set yourself up for a big loss where you have a totaled out Jeep that you still owe money on....happens everyday.

Let NADA be your guide. Check with your insurance Co and READ the fine print, then inquire about additional insurance to cover your investment....Consider buying "gap" insurance but also fully understand the fine print there.

Good luck on your purchase....ME, I'd jump on it, but I'd make sure it was properly insured to protect me financially.

I somewhat disagree with the previous post. My vw gti was just totaled a couple weeks ago and I had a mazda 3 that was totaled about a year ago. I think I got a fair price both of the times. They look at a lot of different factors like similar cars for sale, condition, location, nada, bluebook and historical data. They do not take into account any aftermarket parts so if it is totaled you should pull all them off. I've had gap insurance both times and didn't need it, but I will continue to purchase it.

Just to add to this...depending on your insurance company, some will insure the mods if you contact them and list the mods (it will raise your rates some). I know I contacted Geico regarding covering my suspension mods and they were willing to cover it for a small increase in my premiums.
