2005 Sport value/mileage question

I have been looking at Jeeps for what seems like years now, just trying to find one that meets all my wants and needs. I have found a 2005 Sport model, 1 owner, clean carfax, that looks to be in immaculate condition. It looks bone stock, has the 4.0L and manual transmission with hardtop. I looked at it in the dealers lot but was not able to test drive it as they were closed. I could see no scratches, dents, dings, etc, and the the interior looked very clean. I looked under it briefly and did not see any rust on the frame in the usual places. Over all it looked great. Now the one thing I do not feel real comfortable with, it has 167,000 miles. Seems to me that it's getting pretty close to the end of it's useful life miles wise? I would have to guess it was a daily commuter based on condition and miles, and looked like it was probably garaged as well. They want about 10,000, which seems high to me for that kind of mileage. This would be my first Jeep so I figured I would ask the pros what they thought. It will be a daily driver for me, so that is part of the reason the high mileage bothers me.

Thanks for any input!

That's a pretty good price actually, the mileage might be pretty high but the condition sounds near perfect. Expect to change the usual consumables of the car if/when you get it such as the clutch (biggest, most expensive issue), brake pads, oils (trans, engine, transfer case, diffs), maybe refurbish a few things such as radiator etc. I'd say that's a respectable price considering it's in great condition and has many miles on it, hopefully freeway miles.

I BOUGHT MY 2005X IN OCT 2010 with a soft top for $14,400(that was the lien on it). 37,500 miles stock except for 31"tires. Hardtop cost me $800.00 (off this forum). I think the price is fair for the year, but if it were me I think I would holdout for lower miles or make a lower offer due to the mileage. I got mine off of AUTO TRADER AND IT WAS IN FLORIDA AND I'M IN OHIO. I had a $440 air fair and 23hour drive. I did have a knowledgeable familymember in Florida to look at it for me.
