I hope you are right and it is one of the limited edition models.... that would be a nice surprise.

Hopefully we will know on Monday.

^ Awesome.

2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Sahara Edition. I think it's the longest name ever given to a Jeep!

I wish I had one.

Congratulations on the new find that was already in your driveway!!

excellent outcome for you and #90!

get that special interior numbered-badge on there and thanks again for participating in this thread and educating me and others on these quite-rare Wranglers.

Great! How did you get the info that yours was #90? Documents? Can you get a badge #90 of 1000? Good investigation work!

It's likely the RSU in post 15 was not properly badged at the dealership so the original owner stuck a 97-02 Sahara Sticker on it (if that were my rig I would remove the sticker). The Sahara Sticker on the RSU is unique (only 1000x2 of them and Jeep kept one additional set for every RSU made on file, you can order them if they are still available) and not the same as the 03-06 Sahara sticker. The info I posted above is 100% accurate and I can't say it any better. It appears to me to be the RSU edition because it has the chrome grille and RSU wheels. The confusing part to me is that it doesn't accurately describe it on the original window sticker. Sahara models were only SWB Wranglers besides the limited 1000 units. There were several units that were not properly labeled by the dealership, it's been confusing for some. There are plenty of threads on this subject and I suggest doing a Google search. Also there is a website that is trying to have every owner list their number so if you are a RSU owner please check that site out. The person that started that website is an ROF member and Jeep Forum member (can't think of his screen name off hand).

I posted a link above and here it is again.
2005 Rubicon Sahara Edition
This is the website that lists the owner registry and you can call Trish at Imperial Marketing with your VIN to find out if it is one of them and what number it is. Imperial Marketing also houses the dash plaques for multiple different limited edition Chrysler products (to include the Sahara).
The way to order a dash plaque is a dealership must order it from Imperial Marketing directly. Per the contract with Chrysler they cannot and will not sell direct. So my local dealer called Trish, Trish checked stock and had my dash Plaque (#90) in hand, my dealership ordered it, and hopefully I will have it next week. $34.95 with shipping.
The dealership also pulled up my vehicle by VIN and sowed me the side stickers it should have and they ARE the limited edition side stickers. The dealership thinks they can get those without problems for $72.
I am thinking about replacing the stickers but worried the paint may be faded around the sticker already there, leaving some funky looking spots when I swap the side stickers out.

Kinda interesting in figuring this out and tracking it down.... all thanks to MARKGLHS for making me wonder about what I had here.

just received the Sahara dash plate today.
in talking to the dealer about the correct side stickers, I found out Jeep only has 4 stickers in stock. Not sure if they will make more but decided I better go ahead and order 2 and see if I can get them swapped out.

that's really great that you "discovered" the Jeep you had all this time and you are in the process of getting the pedigree markers all installed....what luck that the badges and decals could still be purchased.

I guess your snafu all goes back to the dealership not doing their part to make your Limited Edition Sahara the way it was suppose to be. Afterall, these were the last TJ Saharas ever offered and the only LJ Sahara. Instant keepers.

I am glad this thread helped. I know I learned a lot.

Found another 2005 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Sahara on autotrader for sale at $15,900 with hardtop. Which can be sold for $800. It has star decals on side but no numbered badge on dash. I should buy another LJ Rubi.

wow that is a nice Rubihara. I noticed the seller makes no mention of the pedigree, being a limited production, numbered, special edition vehicle. that is good for any buyer....swoop in there and get the price talked down even more before the seller even knows what he has.

What does a Rubihara have that an LJ Rubi doesn't have besides a sticker and fewer color options?

- only made in 2005
- only 1,000 made
- Chrome grill
- Tail light guards
- Interior badge with serial number
- Spare tire cover and floor mats
- Sahara sticker on fender

that is all I know of.....

Nothing too special (my opinion) but a nice score when you pay less for the Jeep than you would have for a normal one and then later find out it is one of the limited edition ones.

^also do not forget the special Moab wheels that are painted between the spokes.

plus, there was only one "Rubihara"......lots of LJ Rubicons made but only 1,000 Rubicon-Saharas.

^very nice Rubihara!

karma for me: I was standing in front of the pizza place on Rt 190 in Sommers CT this past Saturday waiting for my pie to be done and what pulls up and stops at the traffic light but a beautiful 2005 Rubihara...it had the hard top on and the windows up on a nice 80 degree day so I know the driver was enjoying the a/c. It looked bone stock front to back. This was the 1st one I ever saw in person.

I have #268. It's fairly close to stock (for now, since I'm deployed), and it's in my sig and I think I put one in the gallery too. I really like the color scheme and the look of the LJ. In fact... Mine still has the stock tires (From what I can tell) and wheels on it ! 16" moabs with a 30.5in (I believe) tire.
