2006 lj starting woes

what brought me to this forum was i goggled the issue i have and saw a thread on a similar issue
this all started last summer after i was abusing my jeep on some rough roads in and extremely dusty environment working for the cotton gin locally while the usual vehicle was broken down
i noticed i lost all lighting with the exception of headlamps on the exterior no flashers nothing worked
changed the cluster inside the steering collim
took care of most then changed the brake switch for the others like i said was some rough roads
shook a lot of things apart on the rig
after i got all my lighting issues resolved it began not starting OMG what now i played with everything i could think of including changing battery cleaning cables checking for loose connections
finally i tried pulling the fuse i had to bypass the clutch and bam it started

this was good for a few days then it got to where it would start occasionally
now i turn the key repeatedly until the starter kicks and fires the motor over
sometimes its one try last night it was 15 min
all lights and indicators are normal on the dash

HELP

Very possibly the actuator pin that connects the key cylinder to the ignition switch. Here is what the pin looks like if it breaks (a common problem).

Actuator pin

There are a couple of security bolts that take a security t-10 bit, but I’ve read that you can break out the center pin with a small screwdriver & use a standard t-10 bit.

Here is a link with a u-tube video of removing the actuator pin.

Check this link for the explanation & fix.

Key in warning buzzer when key is out.
