2006 Rubicon Stereo Swap Issue

I installed a Pioneer 4400HD in my dads TJ last night, there is 2 odd things,

1) extra wires that were connected to factory radio had not spot on the new Harness from Crutchfield-I am guessing this if for the XM

2) the radio will not turn on when the key is on ACC, only when the ignition is turned to on? this is my main issue my dad likes sitting and listening to the radio sometimes but doesn't want to the jeep running or even just the ignition on, it should work on ACC mode. any help would be great

U have to run a line to a fuse to tell the radio to turn on when the key is turned. It's an accessory wire and it pretty much just is a signal to the HU that's its ok to give it power. U can wire it to anything like the cig lighter fuse. That's what I would do

Its just kinda of weird, I bought the radio from crutchfield and it came with all the harness and brackets needed, so i figured it would work just as the factory radio did on ACC and of course when the vehicle is running.

ya but with all of the aftermarket radios i have installed i have always needed to run an accessory line to a fuse to get it to turn on with the key.

Are you sure the old radio worked in the ACC. position before you took it out?

Do the turn signals work in the ACC. position?

If not, the ignition switch could be bad.

According to my ’05 FSM the only 2 wires that should have power to the radio are the dark blue/pink B+ (hot all the time) & the dark green/gray (hot with key ON & ACC.). Check those. If the new radio only goes on with the key ON, it is wired OK, got to be in the dg/gy wire.

I used the Crutchfield harness for my 05, and my Sony head unit works exactly as intended. Now I just have to change that so it'll play without the key. Easy enough, just have to find the time.
