Common problem, easy fix. Pull up hard on your shift lever..it will pop off, take out broken white piece inside shifter. (if you can take it out, it is broken ) Take a piece of plastic hanger, or chinese chopstick and cut it to the size of the broken piece. Make sure it fits snug into shift handle. Put it back together and you're done. Many threads on this on a few forums. It happened to mine and my chopstick is working fine.
