Looking at maybe purchasing this jeep but its a 9hr drive away. It looks awesome and I think the price is right. They told me it has a 3" Fabtech lift but the tires on it are 35s. I think its a bigger lift what do you think?

I priced out the add-ons and they come close to $8,000. I know the jeep is pricey but really want a rubi and can't afford a new 1 and then sink a bunch in add-ons. So this is at the upper end of what I can afford with all the goodies. This will be strictly a toy for me.

That is way too cosmetically cleaned up and shined up probably hiding stuff.

The addons personally are worth nothing, the fact its done that way means it was probably offroaded/abused.

Get yourself a stock Jeep - why does it have to be a Rubi? The price tag on a Rubi vs. Non you can make Non Rubi just as capable for less.

Nah, he can get a rig more capable than a rubi for less or the same amount.

Don't forget the Rubicon does not have much more stuff thats added value, its more the 'Name and Sticker' your paying for.

It has the D44s & Gearing that are worth while. Everything else is the same as a Non-Rubi. Oh wait no.. it has to 1" wider flares! And that nice sticker on the hood! ;)

if you like rocks, the 4:1 TC and lockers are huge benefits. plus there is no SYE.

im at the point of debating whether or not to swap out the d44 rubi axles and go much bigger. the prices I can get for these axles are insane and will cover a lot of the cost of the new axles.

just more food for thought

I have a 2000. I bought a Rubi 241 t-case for $600. ARB's front and rear for less than $800. ARB's are hands down better than the stock lockers. $100 for a compressor and $100 for a speedohealer.

How is that not cheaper than a Rubi minus the gas saving sticker?

Certainly the Rubi cost more than $1600 than the non-Rubi's...

just playing devils advocate, but those were used arb's, which arent too easy to find. so is that price on a used 241.

then you added an air compressor, driveshafts, and im assuming you started with a d44 rear
Correct. And if you are patient, you can do the same thing. I've bought 4 ARB's from CL and resold two of them. Then I helped a couple of friends with three more. You just have to be diligent. I'd take a used ARB over a new stock Rubi locker any day. But let's say for arguments sake that you bought the ARB's brand new. $1800 and they throw in the compressor. That's only a grand more than I paid for everything. Still cheaper AND better than a Rubicon.

Rubicon has a front d 44, front and rear lockers, 4 to 1 transfer case, electronic sway bar disco. With a warranty. How is this only a sticker package ? Cost out a new d 44, new lockers, electronic sway bar, and the transfer case. Add in the cost to install and then tell me how much cheaper it is. The only thing you could possibly use for ammo here is to do the work yourself. Well, time is money and you still have no warranty. BTW, I'm not talking used crap here, were talking new equipment. Now, how much does ARB's cost ? Rock Trac trans.? Electronic sway bar ? D44 ? Who is going to install your used equipment ? Warranty ? BTW, Rubi's have better shocks also. Hey, don't forget those driveshafts with the used equipment . Oh yeah, you'll buy those used also.
Lol. Doyou buy everything new and pay someone to do all your work? Then that's your choice. I said you can do it better and cheaper. Of course that means used parts and doing labor yourself. Electronic sway bar? I'd take an anti-rock any day over that even if it did come with the TJ (which it didn't). Better shocks???? :lmao: Warranty? Really?:lmao: I warranty all my own stuff so I guess I'm good to go there.

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Why not buy Water Dog's TJ for $15,500? It might not say "Rubicon" on the hood but that's what it basically is and it's a rig that was built and meticulously maintained by one of our most knowledgeable Forum members who unfortunately has to sell his 99 TJ?

Electronic disco? That's JK.

Better Shocks? LOL what? They are standard shocks, Gas charged, just like any 04, 05, 06 TJ. The coils are also not any better, just stiffer but yet every TJ that came with a factory hardtop option has the stiffer coils package due to the added.

Sticker price is right.

OP is prob better off that Jeep got sold as it was way too much for what it is and he can do a lot better price wise. Hell at $2k more he might as well get this. At least its an Unlimited and looks sweet.

I guess your the guy we have to wait for on the trail trying to fix your used crap. Yes I buy new because I can afford to do so. Yes buying a Rubicon is a better deal then trying to build one. Did you install your used parts yet ? Are they still laying on the garage floor ? Lets see your built Jeep.

He has a very capable rig, used parts and all. I have one of those used ARBs and its been awesome. Also have a used antirock on the front, its been great as well for the last two years.

I think that great, I'm done arguing. Life is short, he should be commended for his work on the Jeep. I also have a Jeep built well above a rubi., and it was done cheaper. I also agree with with Ironhead Jed on this, don't start with a rubi. if your plan is to swap out all the rubi. stuff.

Nice Jeep ! I'm glad it's being used for it's intended purpose. I have two Jeeps, one is a JKUR and the other one is a wagon. It's the built one. I was trying to be nice but I'm tired of your little laughing head so, here is my old Wagon, built to drive right over your little Jeep. BTW,I never said I was building a JK, your smart ass thought of that all by yourself !

Come follow me with that thing on the trails I drive. There is a reason your wagon is so clean and dent free:thumb:

Where did I say you were building a JK?
