27 vs. 30 Spline

Hello.

In my front D30 I have ab ARB locker and 27 spline stock axle shafts. Now I want to upgrade to chromly shafts. A broken inner axle shafct damaged the differential bearing and the ARB locker differential case.
How much stronger are 30 spline chromoly shafts than 27 spline chromoly shafts?
I could convert the ARB locker to 30 splines by installing 30 spline side gears. But that would cost 160$ more. And I can“t use stock axle shafts after that when I need a spare part.

Thanks.

Realistically I would just do chromoly 27 splines. IF you have the money to convert it all over to 30 spline and chromoly shafts then do it but if your kinda strapped on cash 27 spline chromoly are plenty strong.

If you haven't gotten more out of the insurance company than you deserve, then you haven't screwed them nearly as much as they have been screwing you for the past xx years.

How big is the difference between 27 and 30 spline axle shafts?

Are 27 spline chromly shafts strong enough for my 35" MTs and the locker? The stock axle shafts worked fine for over 2 years and was wheeling very often.

In a rear axle 27 vs 30 is far more important. However the front axle does not get the work load the rear does. add in you have an ARB, so its only locked when you need it, less stress etc. I think staying with your 27 splines and getting chromo's would be the route. As you stated, if one does bust you don't have spares and chances are non of your buddies will either if you go with the 30 spline.

Thanks!

Which brand would you recommend? Here in Germany I could buy parts from Yukon, Motive Gear and Superior.

I did some real hard offroading in teh last years and the axle broke when I tried wo winch me out of a small mudhole with engaged lockers...

I recall the video... of the names you have mentioned, I would take superior 1st. I have also used motive gear for gears in the past, and I have no experience with Yukon.

Go with the Superior 27 spline chromos, worth the money and then that way to still have stock spare to use as well.
