2wd / 4wd problems

last week I lost the ability to safely drive my jeep. while driving to school it would grind when I put it into 2nd gear and 4th gear and sometime 5th gear. then it wouldn't go into gear at all unless I came to a complete stop and then try and put it into gear. most of the time that's what I had to do. so far I have changed the transmission fluid. the tranny mount was broken so I swapped that out. the problem is still there, I was trying to trouble shoot the problem and I have found that when I put it in 4Hi it works perfectly and shifts like it should, but when I try and turn a corner in the neighborhood the tires it feels like the front tires are turning faster that the rear tires it just doesn't feel normal. anyone know what it might be to make it work in 4hi but grind like crazy in 2wd? thanks guys
