3 inch body lift

Hi, I am looking at or rather, considering a TJ that seems to be pretty nice except it has a 3 inch body lift. It is quite a ways off, so is there anything to be aware of when I go look at it? If all goes well, I am thinking of scrapping the bl and going with a Zone combo, or maybe even just going back to stock.

Thanks,

Right now I'm thinking that I would rather just put it back to stock. I am guessing that I am looking at a bit of work and $$ to get it back there, considering replacing the parts that needed bent or cut to get the BL to work? Any input would be appreciated.

Without a doubt you will need to get rid of the 3" body lift. I have the zone 4.25 combo and love it both on an mild off roading with 33's. If you can not afford the combo now then just get a 1.25" body lift and replace the 3" one that rig has now.

Since the owner of that Jeep was clueless enough to have installed a 3" body lift, it seems likely he could have done equally cluess modifications elsewhere. I dunno if I'd even seriously consider going to look at it. Not to mention there are modifications required to get everything working after installing a 3" body lift that would have to be undone to get rid of the 3" BL.

He said that he never off roaded the Jeep. The 3 inch bl was simply to run larger tires for the "cool" factor yet keep the steering, suspension, and driveline geometry untouched.

So, what are we looking at "undoing?" New 4wd shift linkage, new gas filler tube, radiator brackets, remove transmission shifter extension. What else am I missing?

I would say just replace the BL with one of the smaller ones from 1/2"-1.25 which most of us end up with any way. That way you get all of the hardware needed to be rid of the 3"

To that list might also be a steering shaft kit which reduces the steeper angle at the steering shaft's u-joint caused by such a tall BL.
