33 x 12.5 tires ok with 4" lift?

I ordered a 4" RC suspension lift today, and a SYE and drive shaft. Rough Country's website recommends 32 x 12.5 tires, 4.5" backspaced wheels, and 1.5" wheel spacers.

I don't want wheel spacers on this Jeep. Given that can I go with 33 x 12.5 Duratracks and 4.5 backspaced wheels, or do I need to stick with the 32s that RC suggests? Will they rub without the spacers?

I won't be doing any really aggressive wheeling, btw.

Also, RC's site didn't say, I assume 15" wheels are the route to go on this, right?

I'll be ordered my tires and wheels tomorrow - any suggestions for a good price on Duratracs and wheels?

Back spacing should be between 3.75" or 4" to avoid any interference. You can pick up cragar soft 8's or something similar for around $50 +/- a piece. Check discount tire. They are a forum sponsor here and offer a discount for members of WF.

The 33's will be fine, but they are going to have a very wide stance since your backspacing is going to end up being around 3"... 4" of backspacing should be fine - meaning you won't have clearance issues

You won't regret going 33's and won't have a problem fitting them.

get the 33 in duratracs, 4 inch lift is perfect for 33s. they dont even make 32x 12.50 duratracs but i think the 33s are closer to 32 anyway so u should be fine

I'm on 15" wheels wrapped in 33's with a 4" RC lift. Been riding twice and honestly beat the crap out of it. ( bent both front upper control arms) you'll be fine

Sorry to ask a noob question but, are you saying that 4.5" is too much? If the back spacing is too much, is the danger of rubbing on something on the inside is greater? And if back spacing is not enough, the danger is rubbing the fender flares?

Think of 4" as optimum… as the number decreases, the wheel is moved out away from the frame. If your number is greater than that, you are closer to the frame and may have rubbing issues at the steering stops.

03 rubicon, 4" lift, Xenon flares- running 33" x 12.5" x 15" Dick Cepek Crushers on black steel 15" x 8" with 3.75" backspacing-no rubbing on frame or fender. Stick with the 15" rims and 8" width-to get maximum 'flexing' when aired down for off roading.
