35' rear tire carrier

I'm Almost done upgrading to accept 35's on my jeep. And I would like to have a matching 5th when I upgrade,

I have an upgraded rear bumper which I love, and a stock tire carrier.

What options do I have, to have a matching 35 spare and keep my bumper?

what do you mean???

the exogate requires no drilling or anything and can be used with any bumper. it is also said it can hold 300 pounds.

i run one and you not change it for anything else.

and i do run 35s

you might have to cut out some of your corner armor though

Yeah I'd like to avoid That. And it's expensive. What about a swing out I can wield to my bumper?

if thats the route you're wanting to go then i'd just go over to a local fabrication shop and see if they could do something custom for you.

I went with the OR-Fab and really like it. They make a fuel can version as well as a non can version.

A to Z fabrication makes a kit with the spindle latch and tire mounting plate.

I have a Bestop rear bumper with tire carrier and I can't recommend it. The reason why is just after the second quote block in this link.

Okay, here's the quote I was referring to specifically:

I really like the appearance of the Highrock bumpers. I've got the stubby front and the rear bumper with tire carrier.

That being said, I did not like how they were shipped. The front bumper alone is pretty heavy; Bestop wrapped it in a laughably thin cotton blanket and put it in a cardboard box. By the time I had it on my doorstep, the box looked as if every corner had been taped at least three times during transit and the bumper was still poking through ripped tape. The bumper was chipped badly in a number of places and one of the grill guard mounts was cracked halfway through.

I returned it via Quadratec and had it replaced. The replacement arrived in somewhat better condition, but still had some chips. It was kind of frustrating. In a phone conversation and follow-up email, I wondered why they weren't shipping something so large and heavy with sturdier materials.

The tire carrier on the back bumper failed after 10 months. I noticed that the carrier began hanging lower and lower one day while I was running errands. I got the Jeep home, pulled the carrier off the bumper, and the bearing at the bottom of the pivoting cylinder fell out in several pieces.

It was still under warranty, but it took several calls and eight weeks before Quadratec and Bestop were able to get the replacement parts to me.

I was amazed. Up until that point, I was a happy Quadratec/Bestop customer. Now I can't help but second guess them constantly.

As other people have said, OR Fab makes a tailgate hinge mounted carrier that would allow you to keep your current bumper set up. That unit is lightweight but also very strong and even has enough space for a couple of jerry cans.

Rugged Ridge has a bumper and tire carrier combo and the bumper looks a lot like your current one. This could be a good option if you decide to change your current setup completely.

Let me know if you have any questions at all!

I'm not at a computer right now so I was only able to briefly take a look at that link. Does it come with the necessary tire carrier components? Is there an appropriate front bumper?

Looking at the install instructions and the list of stuff that comes in the box, it includes everything you need for the install and all the necessary tire carrier components.

I don't see a tubular front bumper from OR-Fab that would match the styling of the carrier, however they do offer a OR-Fab Stinger and OR-Fab Full Width Winch Bumper.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

The Bestop Oversize Tire Carrier is the closest thing I can find. It mounts in the same way the TeraFlex one does, to the tailgate hinge, and has linkage so it swings with the stock tailgate when you open it.

I can keep looking if that isn't want you're searching for. Just let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Ryan, what about the rear tire carrier you have that mounts to the tailgate? It's around 70 dollars and claims to carry a 35. Honestly will it?

Are you talking about the Bestop Carrier in the post above yours?

I just want to make sure we're talking about the same one.

The Bestop Carrier has a few different backing plates. Some that even mount to the roll bar in the back so from a weight prospective, you won't have a problem as long as stay under the advertised 200lb weight limit.

As for physical size, that carrier spaces the tire far enough out from the tailgate that you won't have interference issues with the bumper or anything else.

We've tested all the products on the site and we wouldn't list it for sale if it didn't preform as advertised. I wouldn't have any concerns about mounting a 35" spare to that carrier.
