I finally have the money for a Dana 44 and to get the front regeared too. I had planned on getting 4.56 gears. I run 33's and have a 4.0L and the 4spd OD trans. I was at the 4West Shop and they suggested I run 4.88's instead, because of the 30% OD in the trans. I would like to here what gears people are running with their 4spd OD auto-trans and how they like it. I drive the freeway every day. It's not a trail rig.

i have the 4spd OD auto tranny and 4.56 gears are perfect for me with my 35s. on the highway it holds the speed without shifting fore and back and i have a good mileage.
off the road some other gears would be better on rocks (in mud and sand itīs ok). iīll install a 4:1 tera low kit for beeing a bit slower in 4L.
itīs my DD and i want a good mileage.
Personally I'd say just go with the 4.88's. There isn't enough of a difference between 4.56 and 4.88 to really matter to you. The OD will greatly help you on the highway or at higher speeds. You won't be pulling 3k like those of us with the 32RH. Plus going with a D44 in the rear you know you are going to move up to 35's someday.
