4.6 liter swap with 2.5 liter

I have the 2.5 liter and I'm wanting to swap to a strong engine like the Golen 4.6. I've heard of people swapping 2.5 to 4.0 and they keep the same transmission and just put in an adapter but I don't know if that will work with a 2.5 to 4.6. I also wanna know what all parts I can keep instead of swapping out such as axles and transfer case if I can do it safely to save a little cash because this is already gonna be pretty pricey.

you'll need a new trans, and probably a new t-case (spline count is often different between 4-cyl and 6-cyl). also new rear axle (you have the weak D35c). you'll also need to cut the motor mounts off the frame and weld on new 6-cyl motor mounts. then there is the wiring harness and computer changes. the stroker should get a piggyback ECU for tuning as well.
