You can put whatever lift and tire size you want but bear in mind the negative effect it has on drivability going bigger with any engine size on stock gears. It will be much more sluggish with a 4cyl auto since you probably have 3.73 gears. In your case, I think 31's and a 2" lift would work well.
I bought a 4 banger auto for my daughter. Had it 6mos and sold it. I've had five wranglers, first and last 4 banger auto. I ran away from that one.. JMO.
i personally have a 2.5L and wouldnt have bought it if it were automatic. Only reason i got the 2.5 is because it had everything else i was looking for and it was manual.
With my manual i've got 35's and 4.88's...its great in town and any flat hwy (i use 5th on a regular basis) but when i hit the hills and mountains...its 3rd or 4th which sucks.
If i had an auto...largest i'd go would be 32's and some 4.88's
I hear ya. My wife has a 4cyl stick with 31's don't use 5th gear much. I have a 01 sport with 3.73 and D44 stick. Night and day.
