Cool 4" lift for a 05 unlimited.

Ok here is the thing i was going to get a rustys off-road 2"lift on my lj but then i decided to go with a 4" now i dont know if i have to play with the transfer case cause i dont know what the slip youk is. or if i have to play with the drive shafts. here is the link of the lift i want to get. i know i have to drop the tcase right but other than that i dont know what other mods i have to do with a 4" lift.any help would be great. i guess i have save up a little more.

go with a rough country...its just as good if not better and its cheaper! a slip yoke eliminator eliminates driveline vibrations that you might get from putting to much of an angle on the driveshaft when it gets changed from being lifted...dropping the transfer case cures the vibes a little...if you do get an sye then you will get a new longer driveshaft along with it...you may not get any vibes though as some people don't...some people do though...i would install it and see if you get vibes and if ya do then install it and if not then call it cool unless you got the cash...rough country should include about everything you need
hope this helps...here is the link for rough country!
http://www.roughcountry.com/Jeep_TJ_4in.htm
it is only $530...thats so cheap! and its good quality! many people on this site have that lift and are very happy with it
by the way...i think a 4" lift is a good decision...you may have to invest a little more but its probably worth it...what size tires are you gonna run? 33's? or stick with the 31's you thought about getting in an earlier thread?

Yeah i think i will go with 31" or 32" think cause again i dont want to go big on the tires. i was thinking the same that the rough country was a good lift company and was not a bad price. im hopeing i wont have a problem with drive line having vibes but if then ill change that also the thing thats suck is that i have save up but it going look good at the end. hey thanks bigjeep you are always helpful.

So you think i should go with a rough country not tuff country.

Well price wise the rough country does seem to look better. Since it comes with shocks and is already 140 cheaper than the other. A lot of the guys on here run that lift and haven't seemed to complain about it yet.

For you in your LJ 4 inches won't be a problem at all. Your rear drive line is something like 3 or 4" longer than TJ's are. However if you are getting a lift with new arms you are going to need to get it for your LJ so the arms are the correct lengths.

I don't own an LJ and I've never lifted one before either. But if it was me I would put the lift on and not the TCase drop first and see if you get vibes from it. Then put it on there as needed.

good point...you may not need the transfer case drop on yours since it is an LJ...maybe you won't even need it...and if your rear drive line IS 3 to 4 inches longer then you should be fine

hey thats awsome, i wish thats the case then it will be alot less if that is the case. now all that is left is to find a place to install it for me. theres this place called JC and Fab Design near my house, they only do jeeps so thats a good thing they know what their doing. i had a few more questions to ask but i forgot ill post them later on if i remember. thank you.

oh yeah my cousin just a lift on his Nissan titan and its a 2 spacer lift and he says he has a little vibration but its a 2wd. I dont know why he went and got a Nissan. Just like my other cousin who got the new Toyota FJ i mean that thing just too ugly i told him to get a Jeep but he said no. I had a toyota once and only once cause they suck, it was a 91 toyota 4runner and it died on me like 5 times cause of the head gaskets.

HERE IS WHAT I HAVE TO SHOW MY COUSINS AND THERE JAP CARS.

well even if it was a TJ you still might not have had to get an sye and new driveshaft...in other words a lot of TJ owners with 4" lifts don't run sye and new driveshaft and are fine with no vibration so even if your rear drive line ISN'T longer (which it should be) then you still might not have to get an sye and new driveshaft...it just depends after you put it on...if you don't install the t case drop and you get some vibes then try the t case drop and see if that solves it as it should help a little bit

i don't think it would be that hard to put it on yourself but hey if you can find a shop to do it for you for cheap and they know what they are doing then thats good too!

those FJ's look a little odd...and i don't think you would have to worry about vibes from a 2" lift on your LJ like that nissan titan owner does because the drive line for ours is different...maybe his is more vulnerable (?) ...shouldn't get any vibes at all with a 2" considering many people run 4 inches with no problems...like "wranglerhawg" on this forum...he said he has the rough country 4" lift with no vibes!

I've got a 4" Pro Comp lift and I've got no vibes what so ever. If you get the 4", go for the 33" tires

we already tried to convince him for 33's and he doesn't wanna go that big so let him stick with 31's or 32's

yeah i would go with 33's but would have to regear. I think 31's or 32's would look good with a 4" lift. See i want would go with 33's but when i go on trips to big bear i want to able tp go up those hills on the way there.

i don't think you would have to regear...do i recall you saying earlier that you have 3.73's? a lot of people run 33's with 3.07's so you should be fine with 3.73's if thats what you have...of course regearing would be great but i don't think you would have to...i run 32's with 3.07's and do fine so 33's with 3.73's should be the equivalent which means you should be fine...but no need to get them if you don't want them...get what you want because its your jeep and your the one driving it...i think it will look good whether its 31's or 33's

Jeep Guy, I haven't ever had anything by JC Fab, but I have heard a lot of good things about his shop out here. Also He was the one that did most of Tony Becker's recent CJ build on 4x4 TV. Jerry might know more people that have used him before.
