4" lift, front d-shaft

One of the trade magazines recently wrote that if you have 4" or larger suspension lift in a TJ you have to live with constant vibration in the front end b/c the drive shaft is always engaged and there is no way to correct the angle. They recommend manually locking hubs. I run a small lift but plan to go bigger. I have not figured on front driveshaft issues as I thought the extra length made it a non-issue. How bad is the vibration and does it cause handling or tire wear problems?

I am running 6" of lift and have absolutely no vibrations in the front with the stock driveshaft. If you set your pinion angle properly, you shouldn't have any issues with a 4" lift.

Get a new trade mag. The rear is a bit more of an issue as its much shorter and things like new CV shafts help a lot with 4-6" lifts. But if you have adj control arms upper and lower are best, then all should be fine, in the front and of course a adj track bar is a good idea as well.

No problem at all on a front TJ driveshaft with a lift that tall. It's way longer than the rear so it suffers much less from steep angles like the rear does. Plus it is also a CV (constant velocity) type driveshaft, unlike the rear which is a conventional non-CV driveshaft. It is also balanced so even though it is always spinning, it is vibration-free.
